When the seasons shift from late summer to early autumn I notice the subtle sounds that happen around me. It starts at home and then gradually shapes into the falling leaves. Falling leaves make almost no sound at all, but the crunch of them beneath my feet is deeply soothing: a small, steady reminder that I am here, moving through the season one step at a time.
On cooler mornings, I like the quiet sounds of my matcha latte with almond milk: I make my own at home now, and when I’m feeling like something sweet, I add a bit of Herb Fuzion Elderberry honey to it: and I hear my heart sing. I hear the zip of my sweatshirt on cooler mornings when leaving for a walk and it reminds me of this seasonal change. These subtle sounds mark a change. Autumn is arriving.
I think about how sound meets the eardrum and travels inward, while rhythm speaks to something familiar in the body: the steady pulse of a heartbeat. A drum, a breath, a footstep, or a singing bowl can help me listen more closely to myself and to the world around me.
At the Autumn Equinox, nature invites us to pause and listen more deeply. The wind moving through the trees, the gathering rhythm of drums, and the resonance of singing bowls create space to reflect, reconnect, and welcome the season ahead. Join us for an afternoon of sound, movement, and connection, including Dancing with the Ancestors with Dee from 2:00–3:30 PM, followed by our Drum Circle with Karen Smith from 4:00–5:00 PM and Nature Sound Healing with Ava and Karen from 5:30–6:30 PM.
