***UPDATE: Spartanburg County residents may now resume dialing 911 for emergency situations.
---------------
POST-STORM UPDATE: We are still addressing unmet needs in the community and aiding our first responders. We will be transitioning to damage assessments today and supporting our Public Works crews as they coordinate clean-up with a debris contractor.
With that being said, we have a few post-storm reminders:
1. Please do not burn yard debris. Feel free to clean up and pile up, but please do not burn anything. We've had a couple of close calls already where homes were nearly lost.
2. Please do not take generators of any kind into your home. Leave them outside. They are not meant to be indoors. Unfortunately, we've responded to multiple calls on this as well.
3. Please stay off the roads! Unless absolutely necessary, please do not travel. Between downed trees, power lines, and non-working traffic lights, there are still many dangers on our roadways.
Please help us help our 911 folks and first responders by following the recommendations above. They have been inundated with calls and truly can't afford any additional, as they need to focus on the most pressing issues at hand.
Reminder that 911 is still down. Until it is restored, please call (864) 596-2076 for life safety needs. Again, we ask that you please do not call if it is not an emergency.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Our heroes appreciate it.
