We are GIVING AWAY a ton of records. Right now!

As people take things we’ll be adding even more free records - so plan on coming back to grab more. Help us lighten our load.

Bring your own bag.
We also have a lot of great stuff for sale too!

Lastly, if you’d like to donate at the counter to help us cover our final rent expenses and pay down some shop debt we would humbly and thankfully accept the help.

We love you - Dave & Amy

This is a post I hoped I’d never have to write, but it’s time.

After exploring our options and doing a lot of soul-searching, we have made the very difficult decision to close our doors at 107 South Calumet in Chesterton at the end of October 2026.

I’m sitting in the shop listening to records while I try to write this post. It’s not easy.
I’m flooded with memories. So many stories. So many great conversations at our counter. So many celebrations. So many ridiculous moments. So many deep talks, and even some tears from time to time. Mostly though we have had lots and lots of laughter, and that's a wonderful thing.

Because of this shop, we have relationships that weren’t there before. Can you believe that? We have real friends who started out as complete strangers who just happened to walk into the shop looking for records. The shop also reconnected us with people from our past, and that has been such an amazing gift.
The landscape of our lives has been eternally altered by this little shop. We even have Nessie the Wonder Dog and our cats, Oingo & Boingo, because of this store.

What more could we ask for?

As the stewards of this wonderful little shop, we have always viewed our role in the community as an important one. From day one, it was especially important to us that the weird kids knew they were welcome here with open arms.

Because we are the weird kids. Just older ones.

Every single one of you who came in here and talked to us about art, music, relationships, your parents, your teachers, your problems, life stuff - all of it - you’ll be in our hearts forever. Thanks for trusting us. Stay weird. It’s worth it. Don't forget to help the other weird kids.

We’re also incredibly thankful that we had the opportunity to host so many original bands at the shop. That was a big goal of ours. To create a place where real songwriters and musicians could come and share something they made themselves. We championed originality and songwriting from day one, and we’re proud of that.

So many local kids had their first chance in this shop to stand up close to a live band. To watch someone absolutely shred on a guitar, scream into a microphone, and beat the hell out of the drums. I believe moments like that spark musical curiosity. That's important.

Watching all of this happen has been a joy. We are forever grateful for these gifts.

Thank you to all of our fellow local business owners. You welcomed us with open arms from the day we opened and we love you.
Thank you to the Town of Chesterton. We love this town and you've always been so supportive of our shop.

Our final day of business here in the shop will be announced once we know the exact date, but it will be near the end of October.
As of now we plan to pop up at occasional markets in the future. We'll also keep selling records online. We will still exist, just not in the same way.
If you have any pending orders with us they will still be fulfilled.

Thank you for letting this weird little record shop be part of your lives.
It has meant more to us than you’ll ever know.

Love,

Dave & Amy

I’m still doing weird s**t like walking into the kitchen with my phone’s flashlight turned on.

I’m such an easily trained animal.

“Hey Dave the record store smells like coffee. It’s wonderful. Is that a new candle or something?”

Oh no, that’s not a candle you’re smelling.

My secret is this - I buy a large hot coffee I’ve been excited for all morning. Then I walk in the shop and just spill the whole fu***ng thing across the counter before I have one sip.

Doesn’t it smell delightful?

There is a mystery in the record store!!

Here’s what’s up:

Today when I was opening up the shop I noticed one of our cameras out of its normal position. The camera in question is set up to have a view of the whole shop from the front of the room.

Usually when we check the footage it’s any variety of kids around 10 years old messing with it. No biggie. We just put it back where it goes and laugh at the footage.

I checked the footage today to find the cause of the movement yesterday and there simply is NO cause.

You’ll see in the screen shots of our software that at 2:02pm the camera is in its normal position when a customer is leaving after he checked out at the counter. Then at 2:09 it has a completely different view and is pointed towards our front door.

I was in here alone except for the gentleman you see in the screen shots who was shopping. When I play back the 2:02 video you can see the customer exits without touching the camera.

I am the only one with access to move the camera angle via our app, but that doesn’t matter anyway because the actual camera was physically moved - base and all. This is not a situation where someone could do it through remote control and just move the lens. The camera was moved.

Lastly when motion is detected I get notifications (example screenshot included) and when we’re open they hit my phone constantly. I got no notification for the front camera being moved at this time.

Reminder I was totally alone except for the customer leaving at 2:02, and the video from 2:09 is a capture of two women entering the store from the new angle.

Check out the pics and please give us your theories!

Share and ask all of the ghost hunters of the universe!
