Drum roll please….. grand total for the Tiny Tag Art Show + Benefit benefiting our neighbors Liliana & Ricardo was $1299! Thank you to everyone who made a tag or two or five, told their friends, came to the show, & bought tiny art! I’m gonna thank her here even though she’s not on Instagram - but thank you so much to Kristen Schleiffer for the brains & brawn behind installation & your help during the event! And thanks to my son for being the “bouncer”, Joe Harris & Robin Gran for your help!

The remaining tiny tags are off the wall & are now part of the regular art donation cycle. So proceeds will go to the ACLU, ICIRR, or Midwest Immigration Bond Fund. $10 each.

Did you know that August 7-16 Illinois has a sales tax holiday for back to school items?

(It’s a reduced rate + there’s still city tax, but it will be 5.5% instead of the usual 10.5%) And yes, sales tax went up from 10.25% to 10.5% on 8/1.

Turns out I have at least 120 products that qualify

Markers, pens, pencils, colored pencils, sharpeners, erasers, highlighters, notebooks, compasses, rulers, crayons, glue, pencil cases & scissors!

Hey, I’m trying something new! Introducing the Mini Workshop Membership!

Sign up for a subscription (limited to 7 people) - take up to 3 mini workshops a month for $20. Classes are listed, but unavailable for individual purchase.

Individual sign ups will open on a space available basis the Friday before the class for $15 each.

🥝All workshops are Sundays 4-5:15.🍇

These are designed to gather a community of folks who just like to try lots of different ways to make stuff, but aren’t concerned with coming away with an end product. Get started here in the studio, then explore it further at home on your own! This will also serve as an incubator to see which mini workshops should be developed into full fledged 2 hour workshops.

Workshops listed are ideas & subject to change based on community input!

You can cancel or pause your subscription at any time!

I like the idea of having a space to experiment in community. I’ll have an idea of what we’re doing & how to do it & I’ll provide the materials, but I don’t plan to or want to be the expert in the room!

They finally came! A full color range of Procion MX Dyes.

Concentrated (powder) cold water fiber reactive dye. For natural fabrics - cotton, linen, rayon & other plant-based fibers.

Dye in a bucket, washing machine, or small jar. No need to use the stove!

Great for immersion dyeing, tye-dyeing, & ice dyeing

You can thicken with sodium alginare & use for screen printing, stamping, & painting

Tiny Tag Community Art Show + Benefit
Saturday, July 25th

100% of sales will go to Liliana & Ricardo, a Rogers Park mother & her teenage son who were put in ICE detention & separated for almost 3 months. They need help getting back on their feet, so the goal is to have no art left by the end of the night!

All art is $15

Bring exact change or pay with Venmo or Zelle.

There will be a 7 minute time limit to view & purchase the art.

If you have to wait to get inside (it’s a small space) or even if you don’t have to wait, Lauren from the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative Chicago Printmakers Collab. will be helping people screen print onto t-shirts, tote bags, etc. that YOU bring.
FREE

Bring any fabric item that you want, but remember the ink will be black!

Items to be printed onto will NOT be provided.
The panther will be ~5”

You can preview the art starting July 18th in the shop,

Experiment with playful watercolor and inking techniques to create abstract mixed media art pieces.

Beginners are encouraged!

In this workshop you will learn different ways to tame the watercolor medium, and how to apply ink textures to emphasize your design. Participants may leave with multiple small completed pieces.

Recommended end products are magnets (will be provided), bookmarks, or small frameable art pieces.

Last chance to participate in the tiny art show + benefit! Last pick up is this Sunday, June 28th. I’ve gotten so many back completed & they’re all amazing!! Intricate drawings, abstract oil pastels, fabric collages, mixed media collages, tiny watercolors, interactive art. The youngest artist is five so far. The oldest ?

You still have 3 weeks to return it!

And don’t forget to put the show on your calendar-July 25th!
