This limited edition 25yr decanter holds the title of being the oldest wh***ey ever bottled under the Van Winkle label. Only 11 barrels were selected and the total yield was 710 bottles.

The journey of this bourbon is remarkable: it was distilled in the spring and fall of 1989 and stored for the first 13 years in Shively (at Stitzel-Weller) in a metal clad warehouse. In 2002, the barrels were moved to Buffalo Trace and kept on the lower floors of their brick warehouses.

After 25 years of total aging—in 2014—the barrels were dumped into stainless steel holding tanks to stop the barrel aging process. The wh***ey was finally bottled in 2017 after spending three years in tanks.

Did You Know? Original MSRP was $1,800 in 2017.

Rare, full gallon bottle of Old Fitzgerald Prime with the original cradle.

Very large format bottles—half and full gallon—have not been released domestically since 1980 when the liquor industry switched over to the metric system.

Did You Know? As of January 10, 2025, both the half and full gallon bottle shapes (technically listed as 2L and 3.75L according to the TTB) are fair to produce for the first time in over 45 years, along with 13 other newly approved sizes.

According to Buffalo Trace, the 30 year is not only the oldest Eagle Rare product, but also the oldest age-stated wh***ey ever released by the distillery.

This is the second release from Warehouse P; the other is Eagle Rare 25. The concept behind this warehouse was to see if typical maturation and aging properties could be extended by purpose-building a structure with specific temperature and environmental controls.

Each bottle is presented in a hand-blown crystal decanter with a gold plated feather wrap.

Original SRP was $12,500 and the total bottle count was not disclosed.

The 1985 OFC is part of the second series from 2018 when Buffalo Trace released three vintages: 1985 (61 bottles), 1989 (18 bottles) and 1990 (63 bottles). Unlike the first release which was only offered through a special charity release, the bottles from this second series was offered at retail for an MSRP of $2,500.

According to Buffalo Trace, this specific bottle design is a replica of an original O.F.C. decanter dating back to the early 1900s found in their distillery archives.

Did You Know? Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. established the Old Fashioned Copper Distillery in 1869. Interestingly, historical references (and Buffalo Trace) have used "Old Fashioned Copper" and "Old Fire Copper" interchangeably. According to Buffalo Trace, neither is wrong; Colonel Taylor used both names while he owned and operated the facility.
