Something that stagnates me as a creative, is not having the words.
I feel all of this pent up energy inside me, but I have no outlet for it. I press my pen against paper and nothing comes up. The feelings are abstract, clouded, shapeless, and Iβm left with no resolution. It feels like words meant to be screamed, and yet when I open my mouth, its a deafening silence.
Iβve questioned why? Iβve questioned what it is. Iβve criticized and internalized my inability to release this. For lacking the eloquence, the artistry, the acumen to- SAY IT.
I think the universe gives us messages meant to be spoken through our art. There is a discomfort in the beginning living in the abstract of those initial rumblings of inspiration. We try to skip to the end where we wrap it in a bow and preach it to others. The satisfaction and release of exercised art. The thing is, we cant take a message weβve never experienced and share it. We have to first live it.
When I first feel the message its so ambiguous and I dont have any words to shape it, to make sense of it. I think thats because its not time for that. Its time to get out and live. Follow the curiosity, the art, the inspiration. Live and the message will manifest. You'll finally have it. Thats when you create. And its released. The life span of a creation. An art. An expression. Stop internalizing and halting the process with shame. Youβre not meant to have the words yet. You'll find your words will be translated in your language, through your own unique experience of living the message given to you.
At least, that's what my experiences have taught me.
