This Samos G bowl is a striking example of radical Italian design, originally conceived in 1973 by Enzo Mari for Danese Milano. This particular piece comes from the Mari-authorized 1997 reissue by Driade Kosmo, distinguished by its use of natural gres—an unglazed grey ceramic stoneware—rather than the original glazed white porcelain. Constructed from rolled lengths of gres layered one over another and fired at high temperatures, the bowl forms a self-supporting structure that is both sculptural and functional. Each example is inherently unique, reflecting subtle variations in the hand-formed elements and firing process.
