Saturday, September 19, Lil' Libros brings their Chicago Book Tour to 18th Street — and ¡Viva! Los Libros and 18th Street Casa de Cultura are hosting.

Authors Alejandro Ochoa and Nayeli Reyes. A bilingual storytime in English and Spanish. Circus props, photo ops, and a brand-new book — Emilio and His Dream Circus — that nobody in the country can buy until September 29.

Nos pasamos la meta por $91 dólares.
Sesenta y dos personas. Eso es lo que se necesitó. No una editorial grande, no un inversionista — 62 personas que decidieron que este libro debía existir.
SOMOS / We Are se va a imprimir. Eso ya no está en duda.
Y quiero decir algo con claridad para quien ha estado mirando la campaña sin dar el paso todavía:
Ya no es una apuesta. Cuando una campaña de Kickstarter no llega a su meta, nadie recibe nada — ese era el riesgo. Ese riesgo se acabó ayer. Ahora respaldar la campaña es simplemente comprar el libro, temprano.
Quedan 3 días.Todo lo que entre de aquí en adelante va directo a la distribución de nuestro libro al nivel nacional.
Si respaldas hoy, recibes SOMOS / We Are en digital antes de que termine el mes. El board book llega en octubre.
Para las maestras y bibliotecarias: el libro se distribuye por Ingram y por Follett. Lo pueden ordenar por el vendor que ya usan.
Y sobre por qué menos del 1% de los libros infantiles publicados tradicionalmente son bilingües — esa es la razón por la que existimos. Deslicen para verlo.

Salí en las noticias hablando de por qué hacemos esto.

Esta es la parte que quiero que escuchen: los niños necesitan verse en todas las formas en que existen. En todos los idiomas en que existen.

Y no podemos esperar a que alguien más lo haga por nosotros.

Eso no es una queja. Es la razón por la que existe esta editorial — y la razón por la que SOMOS / We Are está en Kickstarter ahorita mismo.
