BOOK PRESS RELEASE !!! It's finally here !!
Untold Story of Heroic Sisters Find A Voice
By Jessica Dahl
After centuries of quiet service and faithful legacy, a long-forgotten story is finally being told.
The book, Mother Ignacia del Espíritu Santo and the Religious of the Virgin Mary and Their Roles in the 500 Years of Philippine Evangelization, written by Ignacio Russel Estoconing-Pecore recounts the humble beginnings of the Religious of the Virgin Mary in the Philippines. Led by 21-year-old Filipina, Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo, this now thriving congregation began in the face of criticism and discrimination. Her work, alongside the other sisters honored in this story, formed the schools, retreat houses, dormitories, and outreach ministries to the poor that still serve in the Philippines today and also overseas. Author Ignacio R.E. Pecore believes it is time the world heard the story of these women who persevered with little recognition or resources.
The book launched on December 6, 2021, coinciding with the celebration of Saint Nicholas of Myra- a fitting tribute to his legacy of generosity and faith. When asked what he hopes to accomplish with his book, author Ignacio R. E. Pecore says he wants the current generation to be inspired by the stories of these women who "took the gospel seriously and passionately, living a counter-cultural lifestyle".
This year marks the celebration of 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines. Mother Ignacia del Espíritu Santo and the Religious of the Virgin Mary and Their Roles in the 500 Years of Philippine Evangelization was written to share the untold stories of courage and faith. Mr. Pecore says compiling the history of the Order of the Religious of the Virgin Mary in the Philippines is his way of saying thank you to the sisters for their service to God over the years. These pioneers of human rights and Christian service in the Philippines will no doubt encourage readers in their Christian walk. The book is now available for purchase at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
