Three years ago, I opened the doors to The Last Chapter Book Shop with absolutely no idea what was waiting for me on the other side.
I knew I loved books. I knew I loved romance. And I knew I wanted to create a space where people could walk in and feel like they belonged. But I don’t think I ever could have imagined this.
I couldn’t have imagined the friendships that would start between these walls. The authors who would trust us with their stories. The people who would drive hours, hop on planes, stand in lines, show up to events, and keep choosing this little bookstore over and over again. And I definitely couldn’t have imagined how much this place would change me.
Owning a bookstore has been one of the hardest, weirdest, most exhausting and most rewarding things I have ever done. There have been really high highs and some very low lows. There have been moments where I’ve wondered what the hell I was doing, followed by moments that reminded me exactly why I started.
Through every version of TLC, you guys have been here. You’ve bought the books. You’ve come to the events. You’ve told your friends about us. You’ve celebrated our wins, given us grace while we figured things out, and allowed me to keep dreaming bigger than I probably have any business dreaming. And somewhere along the way, we became so much more than a bookstore. We became a community.
I will never be able to fully explain what it feels like to walk into something that once only existed in my head and see all of you inside of it. So happy 3rd birthday to our little bookstore. 💕
To every Main Character who has walked through our doors, ordered from us online, attended an event, shared a post, brought a friend, recommended us, or simply rooted for us from afar, thank you.
Thank you for letting me build this.
Thank you for growing with us.
And thank you for giving The Last Chapter a story that I never could have written on my own.
Three years down and somehow, I still feel like we’re just getting started.
I love you, TLC.
