Heirloom Books

Heirloom Books Bookshops cherish the growth of reading. Chicago bookshops are heirlooms to our city, thus our name.

Heirloom Books is a not-for-profit (tax-exempt 501c3) used bookshop, our income going towards several educational scholarship programs. Our pricing policy:

Books are priced in accord with the current market value of copies of comparable quality. In most cases we work from bookfinder.com for books and musicstack.com for LPs, pricing items at the same or, usually, less than listed there. CDs and DV

Ds are sold at considerably below market value, usually at a dollar per disk. Prices are not marked, the only items pre-priced being signed editions and books published before 1926, all of which are listed on a searchable database on our website, heirloomchicago.com/signed-and-antique-books. Heirloom's stock is primarily maintained through tax-deductible donations.

Join us this Friday, 5/8, at 6pm for an evening of great music and fun at Whiskey Girl Tavern in Roger's Park! (6318 N Clark) This event is a collaboration between Heirloom Books, The Shimer Great Books School, and The Cellar Fellas, a 4-piece Shimer Alumni band, with special guests Good Dust, featuring Shimer teacher, Aron Dunlap, and his partner, Pauline. The Cellar Fellas will be playing some classic pop-rock, including a lot of well-known tunes.

Make sure to stop by the shop on your way as Heirloom is just a block south of Whiskey Girl on the opposite side of the street (6239 N Clark St).

Hope to see you there!

Heirloom Books is proud to be partnered with 350 Chicago. 350 Chicago is a local grassroots organization and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to addressing the climate crisis through local activism and community building. As an affiliate of the global 350[dot]org movement, the group focuses on ending the use of fossil fuels and promoting a transition to sustainable energy within Chicago and the Midwest through campaigns such as fossil fuel divestment.

While environmental protection isn't the centerpiece of Heirloom's mission, it is a part of it. By refusing to EVER throw books away - those we can't keep either go into book boxes or to local thrift stores - we recycle and keep used books out of landfills. Thus, when you shop at Heirloom, in addition to supporting our mission of "building community through the love of reading," you're also protecting the environment and supporting 350 Chicago.

We encourage you to "like" and "follow" and go 350chicago.org to learn more about their great organization and to get involved. They're doing really great work to protect the city we all love, Chicago.

Happy everyone! It's a great day to tour all your favorite . Get out there and start reading! πŸ“šπŸ€“β€πŸ‘πŸ™‚Heirloom Books6239...
