The year was 1939 when Aloysius Schmidt opened the doors of Atlas Stationers. Originally seeing an opportunity to offer supplies that would always be needed (black pens with a booming economy and red in bad times), Atlas Stationers has evolved into the largest independent Office Supply and Stationery Retailer in Chicago!

86 years after opening, Atlas is now run by Don, Therese, Brian, and Brendan

Schmidt. Our retail store in Downtown Chicago features a massive selection of fountain pens, notebooks, and stationery products. Relaunched in 2020, you can shop for thousands of fountain pens, notebooks, inks, and stationery products on the brand new atlasstationers.com. Celebrate the stationery & fine writing community, attend creative workshops, and shop for your new favorite tools at & in front of 227 W. Lake St. 🖋️

We’ve hosted our annual Sidewalk Sale for 39 years & it has lead us here. We’d love to see you at, and in front of, our retail store (227 W. Lake St.) in downtown Chicago! With around 50 vendors, from all over the world, displaying and selling favorites & one-of-a-kind pens & products! Find new brands to fall in love with & learn more about the ones you already use! 📝

This event is FREE event & no ticket is necessary to look & shop. 🛍️

You won’t be the only one! We’ve reserved room blocks at the Hotel Alergro, which is just around the corner accompanied by a special rate for our attendees.
