Our Poly-Clip bag sealing machine is still available. If you are in the business of shipping tropical fish you will know how invaluable a machine like this can be. It takes seconds to securely fasten a metal clip on your fish bags. No rubber bands, no twisting of your wrist, no effort at all. A machine like this would cost over $10,000 new or $5,000 used. We have lowered the price to half of that. The machine is in perfect condition and was recently factory reconditioned. For $2,500 you get the Poly-Clip machine, plus about 8000 Poly-Clip staples. And I will throw in a California Air Tools ultra quiet air compressor for free. This is for local pickup only... do not ask me to ship.

Big aquarium garage sale going on right now. All equipment and supplies from Chicago Discus must go! The first day of the sale is all almost over. Sale goes today until five. But tomorrow, Sunday 9/20, it runs from 10 in the morning to five in the evening. It’s in the garage behind Chicago Discus at 3553 N. Rutherford Chicago. Park on the street and walk around back to the garage.

Big Aquarium Garage Sale This Weekend. All Equipment and supplies from Chicago Discus show room must go!

Fish tanks: Custom made aquariums made by Glass Cages for Chicago Discus. European style fish tanks, reinforced heavy duty, most predrilled for overflow and fish room system. 75 gallon (48" x 18"), 65 gallon (48" x 18"), 65 gallon (36" x 24") and 40 gallon breeder tanks.

Aqua clear filters (110 and 75), Finnex Vivid+ Aquarium lighting (36" and 48"). Dozens of sponge filters, new and used white ceramic square airstones. Heaters; Eheim, Fluval and Finnex. Miscellaneous Glass canopies.

Lots of pumps. Air pumps: large air pumps with manifolds for 8 to 20 tanks. Jumbo air pumps to supply an entire fish room. All by Jehmco. Water pumps: Aquaglobe 7000, Lifeguard Aqatics, Aquascapes and pump. Emperor Aquatics UV sterilizer.

Books: some hard to find in like-new condition, others worn very hard and very useful. Frozen Hikari food: Blood worms and Brine Shrimp. Medicine and Chemicals. Ceramic breeding cones handmade by Rosenthal pottery.

GARAGE SALE ... CHICAGO DISCUS EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES

Big Garage Sale this weekend! September 19th and 20th. Saturday afternoon from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Everything must go, We are selling our tanks and all the equipment that goes with them. Tanks, lids, filters, aerators, heaters, lights and etc. Lots of etc. Also Frozen Hikari Blood Worms and Brine Shrimp

We are also selling our discus books. Some of them are rare and in “like new” condition. Some of them are heavily used and show signs of wear and tear.

Also the big storage tanks, and the Poly Clip bag closure system will be available. This is strictly cash and carry … no delivery or shipping.

We are on the southeast corner of Addison Street and Rutherford Avenue. The address is 3553 N Rutherford Ave. Park on Addison St. and walk around to the garage door in the alley. Do not come in the front gate.

Did you ever wonder how we were able to age enough water to completely change all the water in our tanks at least twice a week? We had 3-300 gallon water storage tanks, that we filled with water, added dechlorinator, aerated like crazy, and heated a degree or so about the fish tank temperature. These tanks new would cost you over $700. I’ve seen some for over $1000. They are heavy duty polyethylene tanks, used only for water, fitted with a bulkhead on the bottom for a pump, and an overflow on the top so you will never have a flood if you walk away and forget to shut off your water. These tanks are being offered at $250 each. Local pick up only! (That's Jeffrey in the picture who has been helping us take down the fish room).

Discus Tanks Galore. We have been disassembling our racks and moving the tanks out. They are piled out on our driveway, getting ready for our garage sale starting next Sunday. We will be selling all our used equipment. But right now we would like to move some of them off our driveway. We have an assortment of sizes: 75s, 65s, 55s, and 40s. They had been used hard for many years, but none of them leak and they are all very functional. Some of them are drilled for overflow or to put on a central system. We are selling them at $1.00 per gallon. We are not shipping them, it is strictly cash and carry. Call for appointment to come and see them.

Poly-Clip Bag closing machine for sale

For those of you who have purchased discus from us you may have noticed that we close our fish bags with metal clips instead of with rubber bands. We have been using the Poly-Clip System. These machines were designed as food packaging equipment to close the ends of sausages and processed meat bags. Our machine was adapted for closing fish bags for shipping. It uses air pressure to securely seal the bag with a metal clip in a second, with no manual twisting and straining. If you ship 30 or 40 bags of fish at a time you will realize what a benefit this is not only for the security of the fish during shipping but also for the stress on your wrist.

We have used our Poly-Clip for over a dozen years and it was recently factory refurbished with all new parts. The machine would cost over $10,000 new, or over $5000 used if you can find it. We are offering ours for $3000. It comes with a California Air Tools Ultra Quiet Air Compressor. You can hear the compressor in the background of the video. It also comes with 2 unopened boxes and 1 partial box of clips… a total of about 8000 clips! And we will include the oxygen regulator and bag-filling nozzle as well as a brand new oxygen regulator in an unopened box.

This is a real deal for those of you who ship fish. Please let us know you would be interested in buying our Poly-Clip. But be aware that It is available for local pick up only. Do not ask us to ship it.

This is our 300 gallon tank a few years ago. Full of discus and companion fish ... full of life. Yesterday we found a wonderful person who brought the 300 gallon tank home with him to be the focal point of his family's recreation room, for his wife and kids to enjoy for many years to come. That's what we did here at Chicago Discus ... brought joy and beauty into the lives of our many valuable customers and followers.

Today we shut the doors on Chicago Discus. For Josie and me it has been a long and fun ride for 17 years working with you, our customers, the visitors to our shop, our followers on social media, our suppliers and everyone else who we interacted with all these years. Thank you! And a special thank you to Robert Lim! Without him and his creations, Chicago Discus would not have earned the reputation for carrying the best discus available anywhere in the world. And without Robert's friendship we would not have been able to bring you his unique strains, some of which were seen here at Chicago Discus for the first time ever.

It has been a pleasure helping you create a discus paradise in your own home. Josie and I hope and wish for you to continue the discus hobby with whoever you find to bring you these wonderful creatures, and the knowledge to keep them vibrant and healthy. Thank you all.
