I don't always know where I'm headed when I begin. This one started with two discarded layers from our new flower, Ida. I'd made some changes and reprinted them, so technically these were trash—but there was way too much texture and contrast happening to throw them away.

Instead, I started cutting things apart, moving them around, and looking for something new.

They became an irregular grid filled with all the texture that made me save the layers in the first place. Our new print, Mae will join us at The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show next week!

I’m not quite ready to give up summer yet, but this Halloween quilt might be changing my mind.
