Would you believe me if I told you all three of these are the exact same plant?
These are Rex begonias leftover from our plant sale—they actually didn’t sell well at all, which is the only reason I ended up with multiple! I decided to experiment with them in three totally different spots:
Pot #1 (16-inch pot): Kept in partial sunlight. Also beat to death by a Labrador tail.
Pot #2 (6-inch pot): Kept on a fully covered shaded porch.
Pot #3 (6-inch pot): Placed in full sun and honestly completely neglected!
I’m so impressed by how resilient and versatile they turned out to be—Rex begonias are officially going to be a permanent yearly fixture on my porch. Between the different varieties, the stunning foliage, and how easy they are to care for, they deserve way more love. My next experiment is to try these Rex begonias out as a houseplant this winter. Stay tuned.
Have I converted you to a begonia fan yet?
