🌱 Why We Chose Teddy’s Tallow Chips 🌱
At our store, we pour over every ingredient in the products we bring to our shelves. Our goal has always been to create a thoughtfully curated natural foods market that our community can trust.
We spend countless hours researching brands, comparing ingredients, evaluating quality, and analyzing price points to make sure we’re offering the very best products at the most affordable cost. We know healthy eating shouldn’t be a luxury, and our mission has always been—and always will be—to help people nourish themselves and their families without breaking the bank.
That’s also why we champion our refill program: empowering you to buy exactly what you need, reduce waste, and make healthy choices that fit your budget.
When we set out to find a grass-fed tallow chip, we sampled and compared numerous brands. We looked at taste, texture, ingredient quality, sourcing, and value. After extensive research and plenty of taste testing, Teddy’s Tallow Chips stood out from the rest. They checked every box on our list and delivered the best overall combination of quality, flavor, and affordability.
We’re proud to bring Teddy’s Tallow Chips to Chillicothe and excited to share them with our community.
❤️ Thank you to our amazing customers for trusting us to do the research, ask the questions, and bring the best products possible to our shelves. Your health is always worth the effort.
Teddys Tallow Chips is now officially 1 year old 🎉 and we have reached some exciting major milestones in our first year. After launching in a church kitchen and spending our first 6 months frying tallow cooked potato chips there 14 hours a day, we partnered with an amazing co-manufacturer who was able to replicate our original chip. We expanded to 8 SKU’s (4 flavors and 2 size options - the original 5 oz and a snack size 1.375 oz).
We won KeHE’s Golden Ticket and partnered with them, now distributing through 7 of their DC’s. Just this past week we won a coveted KeHE On Trend award in the Gather and Graze category. We also won the regional Naturally Rising competition and will be representing Wisconsin on the national stage in August at Newtopia Now in Denver.
We just launched in our first Albertsons banners- Kings and Balducci’s, and are excited for that opportunity. After a year, we are in about 4500 doors throughout the country, a feat that we wouldn’t have anticipated would happen.
We recently launched our tortilla chip line which are produced at the only A to Z vertically integrated tortilla chip operation in the country. They start as organic corn in a silo, then are nixtamalized. Nixtamalization is an ancient Meso American practice whereby corn is soaked in alkaline water with lime juice for 24 hours. This process ultimately makes the product more digestible, makes the vitamins more bioavailable, gives the chip a superior crunch as well as a more complex flavor profile. After nixtamalization, the “dough” is formed into fresh masa, then cut into tortilla chips and then fried. We take extra steps to ultimately produce a superior product in both taste and nutritional profile.
We have another exciting product in the works - more on that later but it checks a lot of good boxes - all organic ingredients, high in protein, made with grass fed, grass finished tallow, and, most importantly, tastes amazing.
We are doing our first of 3 Costco roadshows this week, and if these go well we will have the opportunity to launch at all Costco Midwest locations.
We just expanded our operations and now have a West Coast base in addition to our headquarters in Wisconsin.
A lot of changes in 1 year. Love that our team is cohesive, crazy hardworking, brave, not opposed to risk, willing to put all of our “chips” in (ha). We will see what year 2 holds - we are enjoying the journey!
