This week’s Dog of the Week feels a little different. 💛

After the loss of Tucker Budzyn, we decided it was time to venture into the Top 10 and celebrate a breed that has brought so much joy to so many people—including us.

Golden Retrievers aren’t just a breed we draw at Always Autumn Design Co. They’re part of our family. Kiwi and Biscuit have given us plenty of firsthand experience with the Golden Retriever lifestyle: the shedding, the retrieving, the swimming, the questionable decision-making, and an absolutely ridiculous amount of love.

So this week is for Tucker, for Kiwi & Biscuit, and for all the Goldens who’ve made our lives a little happier.

After Wendy stole the show in that ad, 👀 you know the one 👀 how could the gorgeous Samoyed not be our ✨Dog of the Week✨

Drawing a Samoyed is a bit like drawing a cloud, they have beautiful thick fur, perfect for surviving arctic winters. Did you know, the Sammy is best known with their iconic white coat but they also come in beautiful biscuit or biscuit and white?

✨ Dog of the Week: Greater Swiss Mountain Dog ✨

Big dog. Big heart. A Swiss staple dog. 🇨🇭🐶

Meet the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, or “Swissy” — a powerful working breed developed in the Swiss Alps to herd livestock, guard farms, and even pull heavy carts. Basically, the original four-legged farmhand.

With their classic black, white, and rust coloring, Swissies are easy to mistake for their fluffier cousin, the Bernese Mountain Dog. But look a little closer! 👀 The Greater Swiss has a shorter coat, larger and more muscular build, and a personality all its own.

They’re known for being confident, devoted, good-natured, and VERY attached to their people. ❤️

And here’s where things get fun: the Greater Swiss is actually one of four Swiss Sennenhund breeds. We’ll be meeting the rest of the family too!

If you’ve missed a few weeks around here, we’ve been having WAY too much fun getting to know some of our favorite breeds! 🐶

So far, we’ve put the spotlight on:

🐾 Bluetick Coonhounds
🤎 Newfoundlands
And we’re just getting started!

Our goal is to work our way through the AKC’s Top 200 most popular breeds, while eventually making room for some beloved mixed breeds, too. 👀

Our dog of the week is the Newfoundland! I had the pleasure of meeting one just the other day, his name was Walter, and he was working as a therapy dog. I loved the deep dive into newf history and hope you enjoy learning more about this wonderful breed! 💕 If you’re a Newfie owner, share a picture of your bestie in the comments!
