Finished these boxes yesterday, for my hand-sewing kit. Literally finished, with furniture wax. 😉 There’s both blue and yellow chalk in the smaller box, will be replacing the flimsy paper packaging with cotton batting for a little padding. I’ve got the bag to hold everything almost done, will probably finish it tomorrow.

The new wheel for the Sailrite arrived yesterday, and Ron swapped to it. Better speed, I can still go slowly, and the machine is less noisy than with the larger plastic wheel. $30 very well spent.

Not sure what I’ll be sewing next, but we do need to work on blinds for the porch windows.

This is a Plover Pouch (small size), pattern by Anna Graham | Noodlehead. I‘m pleased with how it came out, after re-making the zipper gusset. It was done almost all on my new-to-me sewing machine, a Sailrite Ultrafeed, shown next to my Juki.

I‘ve been wanting a Sailrite for a year or three, money and eBay finally aligned. I did zipper #2 and some work on the interior pocket on my Juki, all the assembly and topstitching on the Sailrite. It happily uses Tex 70 nylon thread, which is too heavy for the Juki and too light for our big Durkopp-Adler industrial machine. It happily plows through multiple layers of canvas, zipper, batting, etc. All cast iron and steel, weighs a ton, and will probably last forever. Ron had to do a simple timing adjustment, and I‘ve got a smaller drive wheel on the way, because it is a bit slow with the bigger wheel - I was concerned about the speed after reading reviews, forgetting I‘m used to the Adler. 😏

This bag came out nicely enough I’m willing to put it up for sale, haven’t decided if I will or if I’ll keep it. Next project will be another train case-style bag for hand-sewing stuff, since my first try was so wonky.

Designed this box on Friday, mumble-th in a series of swearing at/off plastic bins. Yesterday I tinkered with it to add the dividers (which also brace those long sides), fired up the laser to cut/engrave the pieces, and assembled it. Much better than the bag I had the cones stuffed in. I don‘t expect to need many more colors, but there‘s room for a few. Decided the whole bag of thread sock was unnecessary, a yard or two is sufficient. The small fabric pouch is for bobbins, and there are bobbin wraps in the slightly larger one.

Have misplaced my hand-sewing kit, so re-building. Today I made this sleeve for small scissors (fortunately, my favorite Fiskars snips weren‘t in the kit, or I‘d be *really* perturbed). Made from leftovers of the fabric from a case to hold said kit, which is currently under construction. Yes, I like batiks.

Good morning, I am Lúthien the Magnificent, Cat-in-Charge at Yarn to Dye For. I have decreed that the humans will not open the store today or tomorrow, and will be closed as usual on Wednesday and Thursday. The store should re-open on Friday, June 5th. The humans say I should apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Yesterday I watched the video on how to make this pouch a couple times and took notes. Today I shopped my stash and made it. And since it doesn’t have pockets and I didn’t add any, I made this little flat purple pouch. Only things left to do are sew up the linings and decide if I want a plastic snap or magnets for the flap. I added the small loop on the closed end, and moved the handle to the open end. I also used interfacing instead of fusible fleece.

Yes, I like this version better. It had some tricky bits, but nothing unusual. Making a larger version, which I may at least lay out tomorrow, may simplify said tricky bits.
