Big bug love.

Featured here are two of our favorite stonefly nymphs to fish when trout are feeding on large dark stoneflies like Salmonflies, or even dragonfly nymphs like the one we found here.

Slide 1 - New for 2026, the In The Zone Stone from Signature Tyer Scott “Bubba” Smith features a super buggy silhouette with movement in the rubber legs and CDC thorax.

Slide 2 – Cheech's Squatchy B, whose collar brings lifelike movement to a classic stonefly silhouette.

Ask for these big bugs at your local fly shop and get them wet on a trout stream near you!

Treat your flies right, and they will do so in return. Our Hopper Box is ideal for storing large dry flies like Salmonflies, Drakes, and Hoppers, while the Fly Patch excels at keeping your nymphs and other smaller dries within easy reach for speedy fly changes. These are two boxes we won't go without this summer. Ask to see both fly boxes at your local fly shop or check them out online!

Breaking down a river from the tail of a run to the head requires a methodical approach, and in our latest video, Signature Tyer Olsen Devin talks about how most pools require adjustments to your tactics from tail out to the head. From fishing a dry dropper on flats and medium-paced water to fishing a single nymph in technical currents near the head or around pinch points, Devin walks us through his thought process and demonstrates how he makes quick changes to his rig.

Not every nymph should be fished the same. If you learn the nuances between different bug behaviors, you will have better success. Here, Joe Goodspeed talks about the major differences between fishing caddis pupa versus mayfly nymphs. If you’ve ever nymphed pre-caddis hatch, you know just how good it can be. Learn about Joe’s ESP Caddis and how he fishes in the video linked below!

Motion signals life, and there are many ways to build movement into fly patterns—some more subtle than others. Silicone legs and CDC soft hackles certainly have their time and place on nymphs and dry flies, but what about wings on mayflies and other insects that simply suggest motion? Signature Tyer Tim Flagler has described how something as simple as a grizzly hackle can imply movement—and therefore life. Food for fly tying thought!
