1 year ago, David and I decided to purchase the house across the street from our home. When we decided this, we knew it was going to need some improvements. We knew the roof needed to be replaced. The inside was trashed by a squatter November of 2025, and the sidewalk was in really bad shape. 1 year after the purchase we are starting on another home improvement project. We did a 50-50 split with the city and replaced the sidewalk. The roof had to be done before the inside could be started. The roof was to be started a week ago last Monday, but like most renovations there is always the unforeseen. This roof had 5 layers on it. Today they started the roof. New decking and all. This fall and winter David and I will be gutting the inside so next Spring we can have our contractor put it back together and have it ready to rent by the 2027-2028 school year.

Just wanted to let everyone in on our little seasoning/pepper garden. Today I started the dehydrator with the first batch of peppers. I had a bit of a disappointment this season. Hy Vee had peppers with a label of Reaper on them. I bought 12 plants thinking I was getting Reapers, Turns out they were green bell peppers. I have an abundance of green bell peppers. I learned my lesson. Don't buy spicy pepper plants from a grocery store garden center. I did get some ghost peppers from Nebraska City, so they should give the seasoning a little kick. This year's seasoning won't kick/burn your a$$ as much as last years.
I have 7 bottles of last years left, but........... they are mine (NFS). Another note, there will not be as much seasoning as last year either. I do think this years seasoning will have a good flavor though. Will post the list of peppers closer to the finished product.
Hopefully next year we will be able to get the Reaper, or Pepper X.

Very nice glider rocker with glider ottoman. The cushions are a suede like material tan in color. We have 2 of these sets, identical (His & Hers) $125.56 each.

This year we were going to do a float, but with everything we do there is just not enough time in a day to get done what we want. Most things take us years to complete.
With that said, we decided to put extra effort into decorating Blacky for the New Market Parade. Thank you, Jeff and Kerry for your help and driving.

The speed limit changes moving some of Iowa's roadways from 55mph to 60mph have taken effect as of July 1st. Motorists should use caution and always obey the posted speed limit as new signs are being distributed throughout the county.
