HUNKER DOWN… this is a long one! 😂🩷
Okay friends, after asking for everyone’s thoughts and opinions on boutique hours, I wanted to take a minute to explain a little more about where my head is at and why I’ve made this decision.
For now, The Branded Bombshell Boutique will be CLOSED on Saturdays.
This is definitely a trial-and-error kind of decision. I’m going to see how it works, adjust where I need to, and figure out what makes the most sense for both the boutique and our family.
At the end of the day, this is my business, and I have to make the decisions that are best for my business, my family, and me.
And honestly… I’m tired😅
I work six days a week. I have two young kids, a husband, a home, dance schedules, farming, the CDA, and approximately 7,000 other things going on at any given time.
Being the CDA Director is a whole other job on top of running the boutique, and trying to balance all of it can be a lot.
Then there’s trying to run the boutique by myself with the kids on Saturdays because Harvest is right around the corner.
Our toddler is just having fun, but let me tell you… he thinks the boutique is his personal playground and wants to destroy the place. 😂 He’s just being a toddler, but it makes trying to actually work a little challenging.
I’ve really tried to make Saturdays work.
Saturday, August 22nd, I opened at 9 AM specifically to accommodate the Farmers Market. From 9–11, Main Street was PACKED. There were people everywhere, and I was happy to be there and be part of it. But once the Farmers Market crowd cleared out around 11–11:30, the street became completely quiet.
I stayed until 1 PM, and not one person came into the boutique.
And honestly, that was when I had to step back and think about how I’m spending my time. I completely understand that everyone has busy lives, and I know that not everyone who comes to the Farmers Market is there to shop in the surrounding businesses. That’s okay. I’m not upset about it at all. It just helped me realize that Saturdays may not be the best use of my time right now.
I don’t want to spend my Saturdays sitting in an empty store, waiting and hoping someone walks through the door, when I could be spending that time with my family.
My kids are only little once. I want to be present in their lives and have the opportunity to enjoy those weekends with them, too.
So rather than continuing to keep the boutique open on a day when there isn’t much foot traffic, I’d rather adjust our weekday hours and see if we can make shopping more convenient for you guys in a different way.
I’m considering being OPEN UNTIL 6 PM ON WEDNESDAYS. With Laikynn’s dance schedule and everything else we have going on, Wednesday is really the only day I can consistently make a later evening work.
So I want YOUR feedback:
Would being open until 6 PM on Wednesdays make it easier for you to stop in and shop?
If you work during the day or have busy weekends, would a later Wednesday give you an opportunity to come in that you don’t currently have?
And I’m NOT saying Saturdays will never happen again.
I’m absolutely open to doing pop-up Saturdays here and there when we have something going on or when our schedules allow. If everything lines up and it makes sense, I’ll happily open the doors!
Holiday shopping will also be different! 🎄
I will be OPEN:
✨ The last two Saturdays in November
✨ The three Saturdays leading up to Christmas
I know those weekends are important for holiday shopping, and I want to make sure you have the opportunity to shop local.
So for now, we’re going to try something different:
Closed Saturdays.
Late Wednesdays until 6 PM.
Holiday Saturdays in November & December.
And occasional pop-up Saturdays when life allows.
And we’ll see how it goes. 🤎
I truly appreciate everyone who took the time to give me feedback when I asked. Your opinions DO matter, and I’m listening.
But at the end of the day, I also have to make the decision that allows me to continue doing this while still having a life outside of the boutique.
My babies are only little once, and I want to enjoy them while they are.
