What started as a simple slab milling job, progressed into having to step in to fix an attempted man cave kitchen remodel gone wrong. We are on the home stretch now, with only some trim and touch ups left to go. Always remember folks, the TV shows make it look easy. Dealing with custom wood countertops and wood working in general is no easy task. It requires lots of time, patience, and the right tools for the job.

So, since I don't typically have to buy lumber, big store pine lumber prices have shot up significantly recently. We are doing an add on and for the sake of time, I went to buy some pine studs and discovered they have shot up to over $5 for a pine stud board. So long story short, we have been milling pine all morning.

This was definitely the biggest eastern red cedar log we have gotten a hold of. While I wish I could have just slabbed it out, it was just too big and we had to do a little trimming on the sides. But overall it yielded some good 2" slabs up to 21.5" wide!!

Last day of milling, so we are cutting some pieces for future counter tops and tables. This short piece was quite a challenge to get setup to cut, but will make a nice book matched table top when its done.
