Working on photos and new designs, saw this:

Why did Yvonne de Carlo do the Munsters?

Former A-list movie star Yvonne De Carlo was horrified when asked to play a sitcom vampire. She only became Lily Munster to pay massive medical debts after her husband was crushed by a train.
In the 1950s, De Carlo had been a bona fide leading lady, starring alongside Charlton Heston in The Ten Commandments and Clark Gable in Band of Angels. Her life took a drastic turn in 1962 when her husband, veteran stuntman Bob Morgan, was working on the epic Western film How the West Was Won. During a sequence involving a moving train, a pile of logs gave way and Morgan was thrown underneath the train cars. He survived, but he lost his left leg and sustained severe injuries that required years of hospitalizations, reconstructive surgeries, and specialized medical care.
MGM refused to assume full financial responsibility for the accident, forcing De Carlo into a protracted legal battle. The studio cut off Morgan's salary, leaving the family with mounting medical debts and no income.
At the same time, the Hollywood studio system was collapsing. At 42, De Carlo found that the glamorous leading-lady film roles she had built her career on were rapidly drying up. She took theater gigs and lower-budget film roles to keep the lights on, but the erratic income was not enough to cover the hospital bills.
When the producers of The Munsters approached her to replace Joan Marshall—who had played the matriarch in the unaired pilot—television was still considered a severe step down for film actors. A sitcom about suburban monsters seemed beneath her dignity.
However, she needed a steady, reliable paycheck, and The Munsters offered exactly that. The regular television salary allowed her to pay off her husband's medical debts and support their two children.
Though she took the job out of financial necessity, De Carlo quickly realized the sitcom gave her a chance to exercise comedic timing she had rarely been allowed to show in her dramatic film roles. She bonded closely with her co-stars Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis, and her glamorous, deadpan delivery turned Lily Munster into a pop culture icon.

HAPPY 250th BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!

What a glorious, proud, freedom-filled day today!! Today, against all odds, we celebrate what our founding fathers, and regular, everyday, working people fought so hard for.
We have SO much to celebrate: our freedoms to say, and do just about anything, our right to bear arms, freedom of the press, women's right to vote, the abolishment of slavery, the right to free speech, the right to a fair and just trial by your peers, not by a single person, freedom of religion, the right to vote, no matter your race, and much more!

It doesn't matter what your political party is: you SHOULD be proud to be American, and proud of what America has contributed to not only our own country, but to the world as well. We act as the "big brother" to so many around the world who need our help, we help with natural disasters, providing medicines, doctors, rebuild roads and infrastructures. We have the largest variety of not only landscapes, but food, religions, job opportunities, etc. in one country in the world (as tourists for the FIFA games have discovered). Only in America can you make your dream come true with education, hard work, and opportunities available for anyone willing to WORK for it.

Some of the most important things created here in America in the past 250 yrs (in comments):

Did I mention how much I love America??

Love hearing about how much tourists for the FIFA games are enjoying the real America. I'm lucky enough to have visited the UK several times, and have loved the history of it, and seeing how beautiful it is, but yes, there is a 180° difference in culture. So glad tourists are having such a good time, whether from UK, France, Italy, etc.

Been outside, came in for a breather, saw the babies, and had to share! They're getting so big!

Thought you might enjoy a little bit of Nature from our back porch. The babies are growing up quickly! Our little family of House Sparrows out for breakfast, with Mom making sure the kiddos are fed first.
