Len and Diana are the most wonderful people - we have felt very blessed to get to know them and benefit from their riding lessons for our kiddos.

For ten years I was a vegan (that means no animal products used in anything - food, cosmetics, clothes, you name it. If it had animal products I'd avoid it). I was a veterinary technician and i couldn't resolve this dilemma: I treated and healed some animals and ate others. Too much dissonance for me! 🐐

One thing I was told was that animals should not be exploited. Now I still have feelings about how Americans farm on an industrial level, but your average small farmer has a different story to tell. We know each of our animals by name and we visit with them multiple times a day. And in the morning
when I call out to my goats, they come! Eagerly! 🥰

They're ready for treats and pets and ready to be milked, twice daily. We have a relationship. There is love. So despite my vegan past (leaving veganism was a complex journey) I feel really good about using this particular animal products. Exploitation? No. Relationship, with give and take between both parties. ❤️ Synergy! ❤️

What's in our shower right now 🧼

Farmhouse Lavender is one of the OGs of our lineup - the first scented soap we offered. It's scented with pure lavender essential oil, so fresh and herbal it smells like rubbing fresh lavender buds between your fingers! 🌿

In general I'm immune to the essential oil hype, but did you know there have been clinical studies showing lavender essential oil truly is effective at reducing anxiety and improving sleep? I love using it for my kids' bedtime baths.🫧

A well-dressed and happy gardener this morning. 🥰 What beautiful things will you cultivate today?💐

Our goat manure has composted (did you know it's actually a "cool" manure that can be directly applied? But we think it's more effective if you give it some time and mix it with other ingredients), and the next step is planting. It's a big garden so it takes us about a week to get it in the ground, and yes, we are a little behind.

I'm a native of Oregon's Willamette Valley, which is zone 7, so the short zone 3-4 growing season has taken some getting used to. But people have been growing beautiful things here for a long time and I'm learning!

We sow, we water, we w**d, we enjoy the produce - that's a whole life, in a nutshell, right there. What beautiful things will you cultivate today? ❤️💐

Without this day Dayspring Farm Soap Company would not exist! May 26, 2012 was the start of many big things (and 5 small ones - this company wouldn't exist without our kids either!).

Marriage is an enormous leap of faith and a commitment to a lifetime of productive challenges, and I'm thankful every day we continue to say "yes" to God working in and through this messy, beautiful life. ❤️
