Yep, it’s sad to say, however Lous Chews Handmade is now closed 🥹 although many times I have thought about revamping or taking a break and coming back better, this business would never have felt the same again after Lou’s passing, and I’m not as passionate for it anymore. I’ve also grown up since starting this business, from the end of 6th grade to now as I will be a freshman in Highschool. Not going to lie, I will miss having a little community to talk to. Therefore, as of now, I will be closing up shop. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey, and hey, maybe this won’t be the last you see of me! Thank you to everyone who followed, shopped, liked, or commented, this truly was one of the most interesting things I have done, it taught me so much and I will always be so great full. Lou’s Chews Handmade was started because I wanted to find a way to make my dog, Lou, healthier dog treats. I could not pronounce 3/4 of the ingredients on generic treat labels. However, I could go to the local farm stands, get out the Kitchen Aid mixer my Great Grandma passed down to us, and feel good about what my dog was eating.

Fast forward to Quarantine. I was a bored 12 year old wanting to have some sort of thing to do since all of my favorite things were canceled. School, sports, and time with friends and family were all tasks that we all could not be apart of. So, as Lou was spending more time cuddled up with me because of the cold weather, my YouTube recommendations started slowly filling up with videos titled “things to do in quarantine”. Then, I saw it. A video titled “how I started and grew a successful small business during 2020.” It was created by a girl a little bit older than me. And then I knew I wanted in. I found, researched, and prepared for something I could put effort and creativity into. And that was something I really needed. I am so thankful for all of the support over the past year and a half of LCH!!

Now, since Lou’s passing, I still look to continue this business. I still have a passion for animals and helping them live a happier and healthier life. It’s definitely a field of work I would look into as I get older. However, getting older is never promised. And because of that, I think no matter how young or old we are, we should follow our passion, and that is exactly what I plan to do. I love you all, and cannot wait to see where this small business journey takes me.
