The Raceway - Cleveland TN

Its been a busy week!
While we paused on getting the tracks around, we got our slat wall up, painted the display cabinets, painted the walls and started stocking the wall and cases.

Pablo came to hang out and jumped in to get some bodies on the wall.

Vicki's dad, another Paul, also came out and helped get our walls painted (see the earlier the post by Vicki).

Benjamin has also been helpful from helping with the tracks to hanging product to cleaning out the paint buckets.

Its hard to see all that has been done, but it has taken a bit of work from where it started.

Thanks dad for jumping in...One coat of primer, two coats of paint, and you did the lion share of the work yourself!...At 86 you still got it.You rock!! Love you dad! Vicki

Track update...

Im told a truck picked it up yesterday!
Supposed to have tracking information this morning.
We will see how it goes. Unfortunately the broker handling this part of it's journey has been less than reliable.

Raceway update.
Ceiling is done, floors are done, and, wait for it...the Quad is staged in its new home!

Next up are the walls and the parts and service dept.

We still have a long way to go on the master plan, but should be able to open relatively soon.

If you haven't figured it out yet, I tend to be an optimist.

Track arived only 1 day later than scheduled, but, it cleared customs in 1 day.
It has been available for transport since Tuesday, which is when they scheduled a pick-up for the next day.

Wednesday, no truck.
Thursday, no truck.
Friday, no truck.

They are calling a different company Monday.

No Flexi race next weekend, Sept 26th.

The parts dept should be fully functional sometime next week as well as the oval.

We will update everyone Wed/Thursday.

There seems to be some confusion...
I do not have any tracks for sale at this time.

BTW,
Our container with the new Janis track is officially off of the ship!

09/10/2026

Our Janis Nabokins track is due to land in Charleston SC tomorrow!

It has to clear customs and then it will be loaded on a truck for TN.

It is another sad day for the family we call The Raceway...

Georgia Jimmy Payne was part of our family of misfits who loved this hobby of racing small model cars. He also loved the full size cars and motorcycles and was part of a motorcycle drag race team who competed in PDRA.

Georgia loved all types of slot cars but mostly concentrated oval racing at The Raceway. He competed in our endro's and even made some appearances on the road course. The time he shocked me was when he made an appearance at one of the Flexi Challenge races at Apex...and had a very respectable day!

We will all miss Jimmy very much !

Here are a few pics of Jiimy, Mark and even both of them on a few podiums together

This is from BilI Pinch

"just heard from Jeff Chalmers that "Georgia Jimmie" Payne left this Earth yesterday. I am sure Donnie will provide us with any particulars and arrangements."
