From the way she spoke to the way she held her hands I wanted to be like her. I had a front row seat to observe a proper lady, and I honed in and took notes. I’m honored to not only had the chance, but the awareness to know what I had. I used to tell the kids at school that I have a great grandmother, do you? She would always say “use it or lose it” whenever she referred to the mind and the body. She would say: “who cares what they think, they ain’t givin’ you nuthin” whenever you were getting too self conscious. And she helped me understand how to use money as a tool. Why on Earth would I need to listen to a finance bro when my grandma has been retired since 1981 without having to ever pick up a gig. Grandma look at this and tell me where to invest, and she did. I wasn’t impressed that she still remembered everyone’s birthdays at 101. I expected nothing less, I knew she was brilliant. She was a stellar role model and a woman who was ahead of her time. A black woman working in male dominated corporate America since the 40s! Pulling the same opportunities as them. I had no choice but to TRY to live up to her. I even love her lore. She’s always the hero in the story to me. She was my Wonder Woman. and I’m blessed to have had the opportunity to tell her this last night before she went home to be free. I’m so happy for her. Having a third space is the medicine you didn’t know you needed. Somewhere to go and replace my tears with sweat, and feel love as warm as a baby’s blanket! Imagine if I quit the first few times it got hard back in 2019, I wouldn’t have made it to the best part; a sisterhood who helps to enhance my life in constructive ways. A sisterhood who holds space for my quirky uniqueness, who helps to sharpen my brain while conditioning my body. It’s more than exercising, it’s genuine community, a total feast of love and inclusion. Candice has held me down and pushed me to heights I didn’t know I could climb. There aren’t enough words to express the gratitude I have for Candice and this wonderful place she has curated. Filled with love, warmth, and support I’ve grown to count on in Know Excuses, LLC. My home away from home. Thank you for all that you are!🫶🏽❤️💪🏽

This is the one I’m having framed. He was happiest in the Southeast on a beach and we always found the best spots! I imagine this is how he’s living right now InshaAllah ❤️
