Last Saturday, June 13th, the The Cleveland Museum of Art Women’s Council marched in Parade the Circle, with the theme: “As the Worm Turns”.

One of our gorgeous drapery lining fabrics was used for the foundation of the tapestry pictured here.

This ensemble referenced the beautiful exhibit
of American Printed Silks 1927-1947,
currently on view in the Arlene M. and
Arthur S. Holden Gallery (gallery 234), creating a scenario of how silk becomes fabric.

There were also walking silkworms, mulberry trees, a cocoon, and a giant spool, all connected by threads that lead to the resulting woven tapestry.

The colors were red, white, and blue, as a subtle nod to
our country’s 250th anniversary.
