Yonah Music Emporium & Olde Record Shoppe Yonah CD is an online retail music store specializing in out-of-print and hard-to-find compact discs, vinyl LP & 45 records, and music-related videos.

"Yonah" is the Cherokee word for bear. Our vinyl is stored in charred oak barrels made from old-growth trees found on Yonah Mountain. The vinyl is aged for years inside the vintage barrels, during which time the slow aging process allows the vinyl to "breathe." The caramelized layer of charred wood inside the barrel mellows it, giving it a distinctive sound and appearance. We have been in business since 1999, with customers all over the world. Yonah CD is located in Northeast Georgia (U.S.) near Yonah Mountain....where no trees were harmed, and records aren't really stored in barrels.

Happy Birthday Perry!

October 2, 1954: #4 Song in the US ( #16 in the UK) is "Papa Loves Mambo" by Perry Como. The novelty song was written and recorded at the height of "mambo mania" in the mid-1950s. The dance had been popularized in the US by Cuban bandleader Perez Prado. Como recorded "Papa Loves Mambo" with Mitchell Ayres and his Orchestra and the Ray Charles Singers on August 31, 1954 at Webster Hall in New York City. The recording was not released on an album until Como's Golden Records in 1958. The song was also recorded by Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby. Como's version has been included in several movies and television shows, including Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Ocean's Eleven (2001).
