Looking back on a WILDLY wonderful summer at Shaker Square – when Safari on the Square brought our community together for an afternoon filled with adventure, music, laughter and fun! We loved welcoming Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, who visited Shaker Square tenants and greeted members of the community on a beautiful August afternoon.

• Outback Ray | Amazing Animal Shows returned with his Amazing Animal Show, bringing fascinating critters from around the globe right to the Square – and giving everyone the chance to get up close!

• Jesse Jukebox had everyone singing, moving and smiling with his infectious energy and fun musical experience.

• Visitors transformed into real and imaginary creatures with fabulous face painting.

• Kettle corn was popping right along side freshly-squeezed lemonade.

• And Café Indigo kept things cool scooping and serving delicious ice cream on the green!

Thank you to everyone who came out, participated and helped make Safari on the Square such a memorable day. We had a WILD time – and we’re already looking forward to the Safari returning in Summer 2027. Until then, keep exploring, keep discovering and keep making memories at Shaker Square!

The Sankofa Black Art Expo is back!

And this one has a little history behind it. The original Sankofa Fine Art Expo ran in Cleveland from 2001-2011, bringing Black artists, collectors, and art lovers together. Now, 15 years later, it’s coming back to Shaker Square during Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival!!

And Jerome White is coming full circle with it. Jerome was part of the original Expo and is the featured artist for its 2026 return. A painter, muralist, and longtime Cleveland art educator, his work has always been rooted in storytelling, community, and Black life.

We were so happy to welcome Mayor Justin M. Bibb to Shaker Square as he visited with local businesses and took time to connect with the people who help make our community special.

The sun will be shining, the animals are ready, and we’re gearing up for a perfect summer expedition at Shaker Square! Join us on Tuesday, August 18, for this FREE family event filled with wild encounters, music, games, treats and plenty of fun for the whole family.

Your Safari Schedule:

• 5 PM: A 45-minute live animal adventure with Outback Ray – followed by a very special opportunity to snap a photo with Sponge Bob, the albino Burmese python! 🐍

• 5-6 PM: A very special visitor will be stopping by to visit with the business owners and community at Shaker Square – Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb!

• 6:15 PM: Jesse Jukebox takes the stage for a 45-minute live musical experience where kids can be kids – and grown-ups can join in the fun, too!

🌿 All-Afternoon Safari Fun!

🎲 Lawn Games – Challenge the family to a friendly game on the greens.

🎨 5-7 PM: Transform into your favorite safari animal or character with FREE face painting!
