Beer Steins - Clay, Metal & Art. The challenge was simple. Make a piece that moved, had a history, was tall, and called for some metal challenges. This was me - I was up for idea (the chalenge of making something in the clay studio. Here is a wonderful piece - an example of those design efforts - that shows a moment design thought in a capsule of time.

This glaze flows like water. It pools and creates rivulets of color. You don't need an extreme glaze to do the talking for you. Here is one that talks quietly to you. One you can gaze at for hours as you sip your drink.

Nachos anyone?
Tough buttery semi gloss Bamboo-colored glaze. Dishwasher safe.
Plate with keeper ring 11" Dia.
Salsa jar with lid: 3-1/2" wide. Inside is glazed sanitary white gloss glaze.
Height with lid 4"
Holds about half a jar of salsa or dipping sauce.

The Mechanical Man. Water color. Dan Saultman
I don't remember what was going on in 1978 but my sketchbook was my friend and my diary. I was working hard on the figure in my drawings and this piece represents a good stride in the human form, although it is somewhat exagerated. It is rock and Roll. Kiss and theater.
