This is awesome. Keep the kids involved in the sport.
Sept. 22. I just received some updated information about the Youth Ride that has been happening here at the Museum, Naubinway, MI, for the last 7 years.
The date is coming, January 23, 2027 for our 7th youth ride where we encourage safety, friendship and team building. This is a hands-on day, where we do our best to make it a lot of fun with a focus on skill building. Our goal is to build the next generation of powersports enthusiasts who have buddies to ride into the future with.
The Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum started hosting the Top of the Lake Youth Ride in honor of Randy Willford. Randy wanted nothing more than to be able to ride with his grandkids and for them to have friends to ride with. We miss him dearly, but we know he rides with us in spirit.
When we say kids we mean it, any kiddo with a 120, 200, 340, or bigger, old or new, ages 5 - 16. There should be one parent available to ride with their youngsters. We are planning a fun day of riding trail, hills and field. We have something for everyone. We try to keep the event open for up to 20-25 kids. Owen Labadie will also be available to teach backcountry and powder riding skills.
We will start the day with safety first, a tour of the Museum and quick meet and greet. Then we head to a location behind the museum where we split into groups according to age and riding levels. We look for sponsors of both monetary and physical items to keep the cost low for entrants and have prizes for the kiddos. Cost is $5.00 per person, which includes lunch and entrance to the museum. This event does require having a snowmobile and at least one adult to attend per family. We do have some snowmobiles available if a youngster wants to give them a try or there’s a breakdown.
The event begins at 9:00am and ends around 4:00 pm and we always hope the groomer will be able to be there for the kids to check out and a few oldies to catch a ride on. This is a fun day focused on kids getting to know other kids who love to ride snowmobiles, with team and skill building.
If you are interested in being a sponsor or donating anything for the kids give-a-ways, please give us a call or you can mail it to us with a label for the Youth Ride and send to the Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum, W11660 US 2, Naubinway, MI 49762. You can also call the Top of the Lake Museum at (906-477-6298). Any extra proceeds will be donated to the Museum. You can also call the Museum to register for the Event. (906-477-62298). Please call me with any questions as well.
