For your viewing pleasure, a gentle bit of resorative work on an older violin for one of our customers. This type of work is very common here, as it seems about every week someone comes in with a nearly-naked violin discovered in the closet. All loose seams were repaired, a hearty amouth of grunge scrubbed out and the varnish gently polished. The instrument was then refit with new rosewood fittings all around, new bridge, new soundpost, and a fresh set of D'Addario Kaplan Vivo strings. It plays very nicely, and has a somewhat loud but sweet voice that the owner is sure to enjoy for their country style playing.
This will be the last "full refit" of a violin by our current shop manager Conner as they've accepted a position with Madera USD. Going forward string repairs will be handled by one of our longtime technicians, Elisa, who does excellent work. They've grown tremendously in their apprenticeship over the years, and Conner often reminds her that she's better at varnish retouching than he is.
