In all seriousness, with 6 kids, no school, and a massive hurricane dumping water across the state of Florida, I’m making lemonade out of my lemons today…. Life of a mom and a small business owner! This fun craft has our kids distracted and looking forward to their hurricane souvenir 😂🤷‍♀️🌪

A snapshot 📸 of what our last big-batch primary color dye looked like 😍 so many pretty hues 🌈🌈
With fiber-reactive dyes, an activating agent is used to get those pretty colors to stay where we want them. We use soda ash, which you can see all clumped up in this picture. From start to finish, tie dye is stunning, and seeing all the different colors that can come from just red, yellow, and blue never gets old ❤️💛💙

Another personal project in the books 🥰 my teens room now has the newest, raddest dye in the whole house 🔥🔥 Tapestries are so fun and personal, and I love that my kids have art on their wall that was made with them and their favorite colors in mind!
We’ve been flying through more personal projects and some big orders, including a 100 shirt (😱😱) youth order, which has been so much fun 🤩 lots and lots of new dyes being made, but finding time to photograph has been our biggest downfall!

The (delayed) result of our primary color ice dye batch!!
We found out AFTER our dye ran through that “Chinese red” is a very dominant pigment to use for primary dyes 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ The shirts came out dope but totally not as expected!
The first tank is my *personal* favorite, but I’m curious to know if anything stands out to you. Please let me know in the comments below 👇👇👇

Primary colors are always fun to play with because you get a whole rainbow, a hundred different ways. In this bin we have a small tapestry, a couple tank tops, a tee, and a bandana.
Who’s excited to see the results?! Ice needs to melt before a 24-hour cure, and then the rinse and wash process…. So excited to share these with y’all soon. It’ll be worth the wait, promise ❤️💛💙

Happy Saturday, friends! We have our old pals Tidal Theory and Drifting Roots up in Daytona Beach for Reggae at the Rock this fine afternoon, and we are so excited to say they’ve brought some Grand Daddy Tie Dye goodies to their merch booths for this one 😍😍 Check out their sweet, sweet reggae tunes and swing by the merch area to check out what they’ve brought along 👀

THANK YOU for 400 page likes!! ❤️💛💙

Things have been a little quiet here on GDTD as we have stopped taking customs for the time being. We’ve been doing some sweet personal dyes (peep my new bed sheets 👀, our biggest dye by far!) and going through our inventory and making some sales in person.
Our biggest life update is that we’ve moved to a home where we are preparing to have 5 kids in foster care join our family. Between updating our foster care stuff, keeping a very mobile 8 month old alive, moving house, and trying to be humans, social media content just hasn’t been possible in the same way. We appreciate every one of you INCREDIBLE 400 folks who’ve stuck around to see our cool art projects through the quiet times AND the content-full times 🥰🥰

ALL OF THAT SAID, we still have inventory left from all different walks of this adventure! Currently, all inventory is $20 shipped, so if you’d like a shirt you can message me the size you’re interested in and I’d love to send you some (mediocre quality) pictures of what we currently have on the rack.
We’re hoping to be back in the swing of producing and photographing very soon. Thank you again and again for supporting our family, and we look forward to hearing from all of you on our posts soon ❤️😘💙
