This star quilt has been finished for years. It's traveled to shows, hung in the shop, waiting for the right person to come along and love it.

About a year ago, I knew it needed something. A bison. I just never followed through, it never became a complete vision.

Two days ago, that changed. You see, I'll be at the Willow Tree Festival in Gordon in one week, and I decided: wouldn't he be perfect there?

So the last two days have gone into cutting pieces. I didn't start questioning my sanity until this afternoon, during the dry fit. Cutting the pieces was the easy part. Now they all need carved and shaped to actually bring him to life.

Am I still going to try and finish him in... (checks calendar) 2.5 working days? You betcha. Honestly, I've been struggling to find joy in this work lately, but a couple of recent custom orders lit the spark back up, so I'm chasing it while it's here.

Will I actually finish? 🤷‍♀️ It'll get done. Whether it makes Willow Tree in time is a different question. 😂

It seemed like such an innocent question.

Henry is closing out his Kindergarten year, and while he’s loved it... he also really loves our summer adventures. We were standing by the calendar I hung up for him to cross off days, and he asked how many were left.

I turned and counted. 1... 2... 3. 😳

Y'all... there are only three weeks of school left. I’m not sure how that’s possible, and while I’m ready for the adventures, I am definitely not ready for the chaos that is May.

Stressed, blessed, and doing my best. 🫠

As I stood in the shop later, I realized I have quite a few items on hand that are perfect for this upcoming "May-cember" season. I’ll be sharing those over the next few days, but here is what’s on my radar:
🌷 Mother's Day (Sunday, May 10th!)
🎓 Graduates (The big milestones)
👩‍🏫 Teachers (The real heroes)
✨ "Just Because" (My personal favorite kind of gift)

The "Free Flying" drawing is officially closed. 🦅

First off, a huge thank you to those of you who jumped in and purchased a Magnet Bundle. I love that these little quilts are headed to new homes!

As I mentioned at the start, for the Eagle to be awarded, we needed to reach the $650 retail value in bundle entries. We didn't quite hit that mark this time around, so "Free Flying" will be staying here in the shop with me for now.

But I want to do something for those who supported this project:
If you purchased a bundle and you've decided you can’t live without this eagle, I am going to credit 100% of your magnet bundle purchase toward the price of the Eagle. (If you bought 3 bundles, that’s $60 off, etc.)

I’ll keep this offer open for you through the end of this week. Just shoot me a message if you want to claim it!

What’s next?
Magnets➡️I’ll be at the shop this week to get the bundles finished, packed, and either shipped out or ready for pickup. If you selected local pickup, keep an eye on your email for instructions.

We are officially in the final 48(ish) hours for the "Free Flying" Eagle.

I really wanted to try something different with this piece—a way to make a hand-shaped, hardwood piece affordable and available to everyone in this community while still honoring the value of my work. It’s a $650 piece of art, and my goal was to find a home for it through my $20 quilted wood magnet bundles.

I’m not going to gatekeep where we’re at, though. We are currently a long way away from hitting that milestone, which means we’re a long way away from anyone taking this eagle home on Monday.

The link will stay live until Monday when I'm ready to draw. If we hit that retail value by then, I’m going live to draw a winner. If we don’t, I’m still shipping out your handcrafted magnets, and this eagle is staying in the shop for my next show.

If you’ve been waiting to grab a bundle, now is the time. Every set of 4 quilt magnets is an automatic entry for the eagle. Even if you aren't interested in a bundle today, you can still help me out immensely just by sharing this post. Word of mouth is how a small shop like mine stays soaring, and I’d love to see if we can close the gap in these last two days.

Sharing a few still photos of the eagle, which has been named "Free Flying". ☺️ The response to the reel of "Free Flying" was incredible. 🦅 Thank you all for the love on this one! It’s still looking for its permanent home, and I’ve been thinking about a way to make it happen that works for everyone.

I know the world feels a heavy and budgets are tight right now. I want my work to be intentional, but I also want it to be attainable for the people who truly appreciate the craft.

Here’s what I'm thinking:
I’m considering a "Magnet Bundle" Drawing. You’d purchase a set of 4 of my handcrafted Quilt Magnets for $20 (shown here in a photo), and every set purchased counts as an entry to win the "Free Flying" Eagle.

If we hit the retail value of the Eagle ($650) by a specified date, I’ll draw a winner live! If we don't hit the goal, everyone still gets their magnets and the Eagle stays in the shop for my next show.
