Change is one of the few things you can count on in life and I’ve been a bit reluctant to announce some of the changes happening at Sarah’s Wonder Emporium but people have been asking me what is going on, so I figured it’s time for a public announcement.
Since 2019, this corner of our store has been Sarah’s Wonder Emporium—a place for classes, specialty products, furniture refinishing, creative projects and honestly, just about anything I could dream up.
Classes were a huge part of the Emporium in the beginning. I loved getting people together and giving our community a place to be creative. I never really made money teaching them….I did them because I loved them, and because they gave me an opportunity to spend time with my bonus mom and friend, Gail.
But the DIY world has changed, and so has life. My kids are getting older, their activities keep us BUSY, and my custom work has grown into a much bigger part of what I do. Finding time for everything has gotten hard!!!!!!!
So, Sarah’s Wonder Emporium is changing.
I recently took the sign down from the front of the store, and the former Emporium will become my workshop—where I’ll continue refinishing furniture, creating custom pieces and tackling all the weird and wonderful projects people bring me.
I am NOT quitting custom work! If anything, I’m doing more of it than ever. I’ll continue taking on projects both in and outside of the paint store. We’ll also still carry chalk paint and some of my favorite specialty products—they’re just moving into the main Big Horn Paint retail space.
And classes aren’t necessarily gone…..When the right idea and the right time come along, I’ll consider doing them again from time to time.
I’ve also been thinking a lot about what the future looks like. Self-employment has been incredibly rewarding, but challenging. I may eventually explore a job with more consistent income and benefits. I’m trying to figure out what is sustainable for myself long-term (TOTALLY open to ideas)
In the meantime, I’m working on rebranding into something that better represents what my creative business has become and where it’s headed but that’s going to be a slow process.
Sarah’s Wonder Emporium has been my thing since 2019. It isn’t really ending…it’s just turning into something new.
Thank you to all the people who have supported me and continue to do so.
❤️ Sarah.
