As of 1 Jul 2025, it is now legal in Iowa for 18-20 year olds to buy a handgun. but before you or someone you know of that age goes out and buys one, here's a tip. If they go to an FFL dealer to buy one, the FFL gun dealer cannot do a background check on them, since it is still illegal at federal level, so the FBI background check will not go through. I found this out yesterday. for those that want a gun, you need a Permit to Purchase or Nonprofessional Carry card from your Sherrif's office to buy that perdy pi***la. Have a safe and fun day.
