Bringing back one of my favorite parts of the Pl***oy collection: the wine‑stained pieces!

These prints have such a specific mood — soft, warm, a little dramatic, and completely transformed by the Merlot bath.

There’s something powerful about taking these vintage images and running them through a process that’s messy, feminine, unpredictable, and totally my own. The wine settles into the shadows, blooms in the highlights, and turns each piece into something deeper and more emotional than the original ever intended.

It’s the same reclamation energy I’ve always loved about this series — taking imagery created for the male gaze and reshaping it into something that feels intimate, personal, and fully mine.

The wine‑stained girls are back, and honestly… they’re aging like fine wine.

It’s been a minute since I’ve shared anything from my Disney collection, so we are jumping back to it!

This series has always been one of my favorites — taking those sweet, nostalgic movie moments we all grew up with and pairing them with the lines that hit way harder as adults.

Every print starts with a still from the film, then I layer the quote from that exact moment right over the character’s face. It shifts the whole energy — suddenly the scene feels honest, raw, a little darker, a little more human.

It’s Disney, but not the shiny version. It’s the version you notice once you’ve lived a little. Have you watched these movies with your kids and hearing something that you are like "I don't remember that"... Well that happens often to me and my husband.

And yes… I still have more of these tucked away, so the revival is officially on!

Now that I’ve shared pretty much every stage of the Eagles prints — the original photo, the Pictorico, the sun exposure, the wash, the staining, the drying, the chaos, the surprises — I’m curious…

What’s your favorite part to watch?
Do you love the deep blue moment right after the sun?

A little follow‑up to yesterday’s Pictorico post, because this part always makes me laugh.

Even when the Pictorico film has every detail perfectly printed on it — like the “Take It Easy - Live 1973” at the bottom — that doesn’t mean the final cyanotype is going to include it.

I pre‑paint all my chemistry by hand, and that means I’m literally guessing where the edges will land. Sometimes the coating goes a little higher, sometimes a little lower, sometimes it leaves out a whole section I thought would make it in.

So a few of the Eagles prints didn’t catch the text at the bottom at all… even though it’s right there on the negative.

But honestly? That’s the magic. That’s what makes each print original. The sun, the chemistry, the brush strokes — they all get a say in what shows up and what doesn’t.
The Pictorico gives me the blueprint, but the print decides who it wants to be.

Here’s the original Eagles photo that was requested, next to the Pictorico negative I made from it.

This is the part of the process people never see — the moment where the image leaves the digital world and becomes something physical I can actually print with.

I take the original photo into Photoshop, strip it down to black and white, push the shadows, lift the highlights, and then invert it so it becomes a true negative. Once it looks just right, I print it onto Pictorico film — that glossy, translucent sheet that becomes the bridge between the image and the sun.

It’s wild seeing them side by side… one full of color and detail, the other all contrast and mystery. But this little negative is what makes the whole print possible.
From here, it’s all chemistry, sunlight, and a little bit of chaos — just how I like it.

I’m home from my trip and officially reunited with my all my materials (and my sun), to start printing again!

I loved the break — new light, new air, a little reset — but nothing hits quite like coming back to my own space, my own chaos, and my own creative rhythm.

My son immediately reclaimed his role as “studio assistant,” the dogs are already supervising from the doorway, and I’m easing back in with a fresh stack of coated paper and way too many ideas.

Feels good to be home, caffeinated, and covered in chemistry again.

All four Eagles prints drying together today, and I swear they look like siblings with totally different personalities.

Same image, same process, same day — but the moment the stain hits and the air starts drying them, they each decide who they want to be.

One dried warm and soft, one went deep and dramatic, one kept that smoky blue edge, and the last one said “actually I’m going to be moody today.”

That’s the part I love most about this stage. Once they’re drying, the chemistry, the stain, the airflow, the tiniest shift in timing — it all shows up. No two ever dry the same, and that unpredictability is exactly why I keep coming back to this process.

Four prints, one band, four different moods. All Eagles. All vibes.

A little side‑by‑side moment from the studio (kitchen) today: one Eagles print soaking in coffee, the other lounging in a wine bath like it’s on vacation.

And honestly… I’m just over here being a sustainable queen without even trying.
I brew the coffee for printing, then I take the used grounds and toss them straight into my garden because the plants love it and the bugs don’t. I even sprinkle the extra grounds around the house like some kind of crunchy, caffeinated bug forcefield. It helps keep the bugs away in the summer, don't believe me, look it up!

And the wine? Oh yeah — so sustainable. I only use it for staining once it’s too old to drink. Reduce, reuse, re‑stain, baby.

Anyway, here are my two little eco‑friendly Eagles prints doing their thing. One warm and earthy from the coffee, one deep and moody from the wine. Both vibing. Both iconic. Both very on brand.
