Exciting developments at The Highlands at Briargate!
- Natalie Ulven, Estimator/Project Manager at Pyramid Construction Inc., gives advice to students looking into a career in the construction/trade industry.
"I have 20 yrs in the construction industry and have never regretted my decision to become an estimator/project manager. Without a background of formal education in asphalt and concrete, I immersed myself in industry magazines, online articles, classes offered by my employer, retaining my hands-on experience, blueprints and always reached out to industry experts for answers and guidance.
The best advice I can give to students wanting to get into the trades is to listen to every story, experience, direction, and example of what it is you want to become a part of.
Read everything you can get your hands on about that trade and ask a multitude of questions. Carl Sagan once said, “There is no such thing as a dumb question .” People that have experience are 100% willing to teach a person that’s willing to learn and better themselves. Find the folks that will be a mentor or teacher in your community and become their protégé!"
