MONDAY RIVER REPORT 🎣

Mid-August is fishing well. Tricos are still the morning move, with terrestrials taking over as the day warms up.

☀️ Early: Tricos + small dries
🦗 Midday: Hoppers, ants & beetles
💧 Underneath: Small nymphs + PMDs

Get out early, watch the water, and adjust with the fish.

FRIDAY FISHING CHECK 🎣

Headed to the water this weekend? Here’s what we’d have tied on right now:

☀️ Early: Trico spinners when you find rising fish
🪶 Mid-morning: Small PMD/BWO nymphs + midge patterns
🌊 Afternoon: Caddis, terrestrials and a dry-dropper setup
🌅 Late: Keep an eye out for another dry-fly window as things cool down

August fishing rewards the angler who pays attention. Watch the water, watch the bugs, and don’t be afraid to change before the fish make you.

🪰 Caddis in the mix
🪰 Terrestrials along the banks
🌡️ Keep that thermometer handy
⏰ When in doubt, start early

🎣 Monday River Report

A new week means new opportunities.

Flows are staying consistent, mornings are still your best window, and fish are rewarding anglers who focus on clean drifts instead of constant fly changes.

Current confidence flies:
• Small PMD nymphs
• RS2s
• Zebra Midges (20–22)
• Tiny Baetis patterns
• A Chubby with a small dropper if you’re seeing surface activity

Need help matching your local water? Stop by the shop and we’ll get you dialed in before you hit the river.

See you on the water. 🤝

🌡️ Water temperature matters more than most anglers realize.

When river temps start creeping into the upper 60s, trout experience significantly more stress. A quick temperature check can help you decide whether to fish early, change locations, or call it a day.

A river thermometer is one of the simplest pieces of gear you can carry—and one of the most important for protecting the fishery we all love.

Stop by the shop and we’ll help you choose the right thermometer and talk through what those temperatures mean for your local water.

Not every day needs to end with a trophy.
Sometimes the best days are measured in memories, not inches.

North Catamount is back 🎣

Starting May 1st, this local favorite is fully accessible again after the road closure since October 2023. No more long hikes—vehicle access to both North and South Catamount is officially restored.

North Catamount is loaded with rainbow, cutbow, brook, and lake trout, all with some unreal views to match. It’s hard to beat a fishery this close to home being this easy to get to again.

South Catamount is reopening too, but water levels are still low. The lake has been restocked with rainbow trout and even some tiger musky.

Access is through Pikes Peak Highway ($5 entry). See you up there 👊
