We have a new show in the gallery! Check out Moods by Aina Cook, up through the end of August!
Aina Cook is a local artist and musician. Cook made her way to Missouri from her home country of Madagascar in 2008 to study textile and apparel merchandising at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Her love of art and music began in childhood and have been a source of joy and expression ever since.
Cook uses whatever the mood of the moment calls for; often combining various mediums, such as: acrylic, colored pencil, pen, and markers. Many of her pieces mix self-portrait drawings with mandalas, painted in vibrant colors, for eclectic, electric results. A mix and match style, with new and old pieces taking on a whole new life of their own. Although she took a few classes in college, she is otherwise self-taught, and continues to carve out her own unique style.
Cook drew the covers for her last two albums and hand makes her own merchandise she sells at the venues where she performs. She is excited to deliver more of her work out into the world for her debut art exhibit at Serendipity Salon and Gallery and broaden her exposure as a visual artist. As a former procrastinator, she is stepping up to the plate โgetting it done instead of perfectโ so she can move on and create new art, new songs, new moods.
