It's banned books week, and we stand with all the libraries and schools fighting these bans to keep books on shelves.
In 2025, the American Library Association documented nearly 500 attempts to censor more than 4,200 individual books across the country. The top reasons for censorship included "false claims of illegal obscenity for minors; inclusion of LGBTQIA+ representation; covering topics of race, racism, social justice, and diversity; and presenting political or religious views with which the challengers disagreed." It boils down to a few people trying to control which books the public can access.
The ALA puts it best: "Books are for everyone. Books should be read. Books should be uncensored. Let Books Be!"
