We’re officially in the second half of the season! 🎉

So far, it’s been such a joy getting to know the park, our neighbors, and everyone who has stopped by to visit us. It hasn’t been without its challenges, especially with unpredictable weather, but it’s been an incredible learning experience and, more importantly, a wonderful way for our vendors to connect with one another and build community. ❤️

As summer winds down and cozy season rolls around 🍂🎃, students, faculty, and vacationers return. We hope you’ll make it part of your monthly plans to stop by this little market, support our amazing local vendors and artists, and spend some time with us! We need your support to keep events like this in our local communities.

We’ve also want to announce that we have added a special Halloween Market to the schedule! 🎃 We’re hoping it can be a fun starting point for trick-or-treaters in and around the Village of Cherry Hill to begin their route for the evening where they can enjoy some Halloween fun, treats and, of course, get a little extra wear out of those costumes. 👻

After Halloween, we’ll take a short break in November and then return with a small selection of vendors for The Magic Tree Festival! ✨

Meet Gregory "Tex" Carroll, our village musician this weekend! 🎶✨

With over 50 years of experience in music, Gregory "Tex" Carroll has spent decades sharing his passion both on and off the stage. From working as a sound technician to performing as a drummer and now as a solo acoustic guitarist, Tex brings a lifetime of musical experience to every performance.

For the past 23 years, he's also served as the MC and drummer for Grandma's Country Music at Mark Twain Lake, entertaining audiences with his love of live music and community.

Let's have a quick conversation about AI and small businesses. First, I want to clarify that all of the promotional material I create for The Vendor Village is made by me. My background is in art, and I've been an artist my entire life. I do not personally support or use AI-generated art for my own business or for The Vendor Village.

The reason I'm bringing this up is because I recently shared marketing for one of our participants. After realizing the image they had provided was AI-generated, I recreated it myself without AI and reposted the new version. I received a few questions afterward, and I realized it was a good opportunity to clarify our policy.

At The Vendor Village, AI-generated artwork and products created from AI-generated art are not allowed to be sold. Vendors are welcome to sell those items elsewhere, but they are not permitted at our events. Some vendors have chosen to use AI-generated images in their marketing. While I don't personally agree with that choice, I am not going to exclude a small business solely because of how they advertise outside of our market.I know some people believe this should be an all-or-nothing issue, and I respect that perspective. My decision comes from recognizing how difficult things are for many small businesses right now. Free AI tools have become an attractive option for businesses trying to reduce costs. That isn't me excusing the choice, it's simply acknowledging the reality many owners are facing.

The Vendor Village has always been about building community. My hope is that as businesses grow, they'll be able to invest in local artists and designers for their branding and marketing. I'd love to see more collaborations between our creative community and our small businesses.

If you choose not to support businesses that use AI-generated visuals, I encourage respectful conversations with those business owners. Honest conversations create more opportunities for understanding and change.

Join us Saturday, August 8 at our next Vendor Village event, for the “See Cherry Hill Clearly” Scavenger Hunt, sponsored by Stone Optometry !

Bring the whole family, explore the market, discover new favorites, and support our incredible local vendors while entering for a chance to win some amazing prizes.

Here’s how it works:
👓 Start at the Andrew Stone Optometry tent and pick up your scavenger hunt card.
🔍 Visit any six participating vendor booths.
❤️ At each stop, find a product, item, or service that catches your eye and write a quick note about why you like it.
✍️ Ask the vendor to initial your card before moving to your next stop.
🎟️ Return your completed card to the A*O tent to receive your prize-drawing entry.

Participating vendors will display a scavenger hunt sign at their tents, so they will be easy to spot.

Want more chances to win?
Make a purchase of any amount from a participating vendor and receive an A*O poker chip for an additional prize entry.
There is no minimum purchase amount. Limit one poker chip per participating vendor, per person.

This post is a little different than what you're used to seeing here, but as we reach the middle of the season, it feels like the perfect time for a change of pace.

From the very beginning, the purpose of the Vendor Village has been to build community in as many ways as possible. My focus has always been on finding the people who want to be part of that mission and helping create opportunities for connection. Through the market events, these connections are mostly those between small business owners, and business owners and the community they serve.

Over the first half of the season, I've had the chance to meet so many wonderful visitors. Through those conversations, I've discovered there are quite a few local groups with a similar mission, bringing people together, creating new friendships, building deeper connections, and helping our community thrive.

So here's where I'd love your help: Tag local groups that are open to welcoming new members! Whether it's a book club, hiking group, gaming club, moms' group, gardening club, crafting club, or anything in between, I'd love to hear about it.

If someone in our community is trying to find their people, let's help them discover a place where they belong.

Over the coming months, I'd love to highlight these groups and the amazing things they're doing. Our market season may eventually come to an end, but building community doesn't have to.
