One of the most liberating, but equally terrifying, things I can be told when working in a project is “do whatever you think will look best”

It seems trivial but what if my version of “best” is way different than yours? What is my current creative vibe is way off from what you have in mind?

At the end of the day if someone trusts me enough to let my creativity run then run I will

So here’s my next version of what I think will look best. YouTubing how to use bag stiffener, trying my hand at the incredibly long, but also meditative, process of applying Edge Kote and learning how in the hell to attach a new bag clasp

This is also one of the few projects I’ve done where I haven’t been last minute working on something for Christmas gifts or an upcoming market. I can take the time to play with a pattern, methodically plan out my steps and for once not be in a rush (although I’m pretty sure the friend I’m making this for would really like me to hurry up and finish this for her already 🙃) and this has been so incredibly refreshing. An extra long break from social media hasn’t hurt either

It feels really good to see this come together for the joy of creating and not having to hurry on to the next project

It’s time for the shop to take a little break

2022 has been the year of taking my life and doing a complete 180

-March we sold our house and moved in with my parents while we figured out where to live

-April we closed on 3.5 acres and began the process of finding a builder and finalizing a plan

-June I started a new job

-August my husband also made a big career change and started a new job

Since closing on our land we’ve been doing land prep in preparation for building and I also threw in marathon training for a race in October. So to say the least, we’ve been busy

As we get ready to go all in on building our house I’ve had to make the decision on what I need to pause because as much as I want to, I can’t do it all

So for 2023 I’m pausing trying to maintain a shop, be ready for markets and trying to keep up with the latest social trends. I’m going to take time to play around creatively and just enjoy making for the sake of making

If you’re like me and enjoy watching house transformations, or you just think it would be entertaining to watch me try and install siding, feel free to follow along on my personal account to watch the house come together

I’ll still be around sharing whatever project I’m working on at the moment, like teaching myself macramé, and hitting up my favorite markets and vendors as a customer for once

But seriously though, is anyone else stunned by how fast this fall is flying?

I am super excited to be hanging out tomorrow for the Second Saturday market. Not only is this going to be a fabulous shopping experience in general but there will be dogs in costume. Don’t mind me while I pet all the puppers as they go by 🐾
