NEW DISPLAY AT COLUMBUS COLLECTIVE MUSEUMS
We’re excited to share our newest exhibit highlighting an important piece of Columbus, Georgia history — Civil War-era swords made here in Columbus.
The display features swords associated with two of Columbus’s historic swordmakers, Haiman Brothers and A. H. DeWitt, along with original Confederate currency and other period material that helps tell the story of their manufacture during the Civil War.
Haiman Brothers became one of the best-known Confederate swordsmiths in Columbus, while local jeweler and silversmith A. H. DeWitt also produced swords during the war.
These pieces were made more than 160 years ago, right here in Columbus, Georgia, and we’re proud to preserve and display this part of our city’s history.
