Quilt Retreat in Colusa-Spots Still Available!

We're excited to be hosting Let's Quilt with Linda Ballard right here at Friends Around the Block this fall!

October 19-21, 2026
Friends Around the Block in Colusa, CA

Spend three days sewing, learning, and enjoying time with fellow quilters in our classroom! Your retreat registration includes the class, two meals, and some extra goodies, and with a smaller group, you'll get plenty of personal attention along the way.

There are still spots available, so if a few days of quilting and good company sound like just what you need, we'd love to have you here!

As September arrives, we’re welcoming a new month filled with fabric, friends, and plenty of time to sew! Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your next project, a day of sewing with friends, or a new class to try, there’s lots happening at Friends Around the Block this month.

Our featured fabric for September is Riley Blake Designs’ Dear Sweethearts, A cheerful collection of sweet florals and classic prints in red, blue, and green. Stop by the shop to see it in person or shop the collection online!

September also brings Sit & Sew every Tuesday and Friday, a private retreat, the Linda Ballard Fall Retreat, and two classes. Our Disappearing 9 Patch class is already full, but there are still spots available for the Wensleydale Quilt Class with Patt Thompson on September 30.

Christmas sewing season is here! 🎄

We have the Santa and Ark Panel Quilt Kit from Riley Blake Designs in the shop, featuring fabric from the Picture a Christmas II collection.

This festive kit includes the pattern plus all the fabric needed for the quilt top and binding, making it an easy project to get started on for the holidays. The finished quilt measures approximately 55½” x 63½”. Perfect for bringing out year after year.

Elevate Your Block is happening TODAY!

Have a quilt block you love but aren’t quite sure what to do with next? Bring it in and Patt will show you how to take it a step further with borders, sashing, coordinating fabrics, and creative setting options.

This is a great class for using those favorite blocks (or unfinished ones!) that have been waiting for a little inspiration.

Class is today from 10am–3pm and there’s still time to join us! Give us a call or stop by the shop this morning to grab your spot.
