While I have had to make the very tough decision to not take anymore parties until after surgery and the doctor clears me to resume all activities (if you know me outside of balloons, you know this is the hardest part) I was super grateful to be able to do a fun set up for one of my favorite people! Complete with her own pink mini-truck!

Our hearts are incredibly heavy as we see the devastation these floods have brought to our community.

To every family who has watched water enter their home, every person who has lost belongings that can never truly be replaced, and every business owner standing in a place they worked so hard to build and wondering what comes next — our hearts are with you.

The water will eventually dry. Roads will reopen. Cleanup will begin. But for many, the effects of this flooding will last much longer.

And when our local small businesses are finally able to open their doors again, they are going to need us. More than they ever have.

They will need a community that shows up. And I know that we can do that!

Buy the coffee. Order the meal. Visit the shop. Hit the farm-stand. Stop at the bakery. Book the service. Share their posts. Recommend them to a friend. But most importantly, be patient while they rebuild and recover. And if able, find ways to make that recovery easier. Your support doesn’t end when they’re closed.

Small businesses are built from someone’s dreams, sacrifices, late nights, missed family time, and countless hours of hard work. For some of our local business owners, this flood has taken years of that work and changed everything in a matter of hours. It’s devastating. It’s not fair. And they truly don’t deserve it.

It will take a community to bring our community back.

Right now, all we can do is wait. Once it is safe, we can help clean up the damage. We can remove debris. We can physically show up in ways to support the businesses that we all love and adore.

To every person, family, and business affected by this flooding:

We see you. We are thinking of you. And when the time comes to rebuild and reopen, we will be there to support you all in any way that we can.

Finished potentially the last set up until after surgery and couldn’t think of a better way to end it than a fun back to school display for not only one of my favorite teachers, but favorite human as well!
