Can I tell you something that never gets old?!

Hearing what people have to say about something I’ve made!

From someone falling in love with a fabric print to hearing that one of my book sleeves has become a favorite travel accessory… it makes me SO happy!

I spend a lot of time choosing fabrics and sewing each sleeve, so knowing that someone loves theirs enough to bring it along wherever they go is pretty special.

And seeing pictures of my book sleeves out in the world, accompanying someone on their adventures?! I LOVE that!

Thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to share a kind word about something I’ve made. It means more than you know! 💜

Everyone says book sleeves are for books… but I disagree!

Okay, obviously they’re GREAT for books, but who says that’s all you can use them for?!

Have a Kindle? Tuck it inside with a few of your reading accessories!

Keep a journal? Your journal and favorite pens can have their own cute spot, too!

Always carrying a notebook around? Slip it inside with the pens you somehow always need but can never find when you want one!

And they’re great for keeping smaller children’s books together when you’re heading out!

Just because I call them book sleeves doesn’t mean that’s the ONLY thing they can hold!

Sometimes it’s fun to think outside the book! 😉💜

Okay, so this past weekend I got to meet at her Christmas Staycation book event!! 😍📚

I started reading Meghan’s books last year, and she immediately became one of my favorite authors! (She’s officially an insta-buy for me!)

And I was especially excited about this book because it’s inspired by my FAVORITE Christmas movie!!🎄

The event was SO much fun! I loved listening to her talk about her books, what it’s been like being on tour, and all the other fun things she shared. And the audience Q&A afterward was just as entertaining!

I also brought one of my handmade book sleeves for her, and I actually got to watch her open it, which was pretty awesome!

This is for the person who brings a book everywhere they go… even when there’s a pretty good chance they won’t have time to read it!

Because what if you end up with 15 minutes to yourself?! You’re not about to waste a perfectly good reading opportunity! (Am I right?!)

You’ve always got a current read, your TBR is probably getting a little out of control, and there’s nothing better than finally getting home, getting comfy, and picking up right where you left off.

But you’re also VERY particular about your books. Bent covers? Folded pages? Absolutely not!

You want to bring your paperback along for the ride without worrying about what else is floating around in your bag.

And if it happens to have a cute book sleeve of its own? Even better! 😍

How much protection does a book sleeve actually give your book?

Here’s the thing… book sleeves are meant to help protect your books from everyday wear and tear, not make them indestructible!

I make mine with a cotton exterior, cotton lining, and a thin layer of padding in between. That middle layer adds a little structure and cushioning without making the sleeve bulky.

So when you tuck your paperback into your purse, backpack, or carry-on, it has an extra layer between those precious pages and everything else you’re carrying!

Now, would I recommend tossing your book around just because it’s in a sleeve? Absolutely not! 🤣

But for keeping your current read tucked away and protected while you’re out and about? That’s exactly what I make them for!

I started making book sleeves because I was tired of worrying about my books getting damaged when I traveled.

I love bringing books with me on vacation, but I’m also VERY particular about keeping them in pristine condition. No bent covers, no folded pages… none of it!

So what was my solution before book sleeves?

A plastic grocery bag. Yep, a grocery bag! 🤣

I’d carefully wrap my book in it, tuck it into my travel bag, and make sure everything stayed perfectly straight so nothing got bent or damaged.

And then I’d worry about it anyway! 🤦‍♀️

That’s when I decided to start making padded book sleeves. Something I could slip my book into without having to go through that whole production every time I packed!

And let’s face it… a cute book sleeve is a WHOLE lot prettier than a plastic grocery bag!

I love tangible books, and I know I’m not the only one who wants to keep those pages looking as good as the day I bought them!

Book sleeves aren’t just for protecting your paperback from the chaos inside your bag!

Yes, they’re padded to help keep your book safe from bent covers, curled pages, and whatever else is floating around in your purse.

But who says your current read needs to leave the house to have a cute accessory of its own?!

Your book might spend most of its time on your nightstand, but that doesn’t mean it can’t look cute while it’s there! 😍

And when you DO decide to take it along, you’ve already got the perfect spot to tuck it into!

Practical AND cute? Yes please!

New fabric prints have hit the cutting table and I am LOVING these combinations! 😍

Pretty pinks, a little lavender, and of course I couldn’t pass up that cute bookish print! 📚💜

I already have plans for these beauties… but you’ll have to wait a bit to see what they become! 😁

Gave my space at On A Whim a little refresh!

I rearranged a few things, added the wreaths and quilts, and brought in some new headband prints! 😍

The shelves are restocked, the pegboard got a new look, and everything has a fresh spot!
