Not quite the results the NJS58 Racing team supported by Shop 21 was hoping for in the Dark Horse Legends Mustang Cup race at Sebring. With a 5th place in the lightning shortened race 1 and a P4 in race 2 we still were very pleased with the performance of our Ford Racing Senior Development Team driver Nick Smither. Strong qualifying and consistency against a Legends field that is both younger, and much stronger than the 2025 season, shows we have some work to do to repeat the Championship winning form of last season. But the car ran flawlessly after some hard work to replace a damaged rear damper and half shaft incurred in testing two weeks ago, followed by the new safety related updates with improved FIA 8855-2021 seats and mountings in the two teams cars. Team mechanic Jason Wood kept the car clean and ready to go all weekend, without any problem. And as usual we had some great fun and great food, enjoying the warm Florida sunshine. The Team has a very short turnaround, returning a week from today to load back in for the Sebring 12 Hours week with IMSA Mustang Challenge. And this time we are bringing our teammate Walter Bobko in the NJS58 Racing #88 Dark Horse R. Walter is another of those wild Ford Racing Senior Driver Development members, who is stepping up from the Mustang Cup series. We’ve come a long way from our HPDE and Club racer days and proud to show what a few old guys can accomplish against the youngsters.
