Tim Curry was known for so many unforgettable characters - Pennywise, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, and so many others.

But I will always remember Tim Curry as Darkness.

He was magnificent...that voice, that laugh, that presence, that deliciously dark creature he brought to life… he crawled straight into my soul and never really left.

“We are all animals, my lady.”

Yes. We are. And perhaps that’s why Darkness always felt a little more familiar to me than he probably should have.

Thank you for giving us Darkness, and so many other strange, magnificent, and unforgettable characters.

The world is a little less wickedly wonderful without you in it.

Sometimes community requires a little patience.

Take the goldfinch and the thistle.

Goldfinches are late nesters, often waiting for thistle and other late-blooming plants to provide what they need. They eat the seeds, and they use that soft thistle fluff to build their nests.

The thistle blooms when the goldfinch needs it.

Not early. Not on our schedule. When the time is right.

I think there’s something beautiful in that.

Sometimes we get impatient waiting to find our people, our flock, our tribe, our place in the community. We wonder if we’re missing something or if we’re somehow behind.

But maybe some things simply need time to bloom.

Community isn't always about finding everyone at once. Sometimes it's about trusting that the right connections will come when we're ready to both give and receive.

This is one of the wild lessons we'll be exploring at our Spiritus Animalis Autumn Equinox Workshop on September 19, where we'll gather with five very different creatures and listen to what they have to teach us about community.

Sometimes the lesson isn't to find your flock.
